Buy it while you still can! Just got my 4th one
This is the one you can literally chop a tree down with, if that's what you're looking for. It's also the thick one that holds up well. The only reason I've bought multiple of these is because they keep liking to grow legs. That or they're somewhere in Narnia.... Keeping the bounce - out darts that hit the floor and disappear... Company. This isn't fancy, it is very simple and util. You can put a fine edge on it if you like. It'll slice just about as good as it chops. If I could afford a dozen right now 4/2026... Id totally do it, what with the way prices keep going up and things become less available. I'll be pissed if I don't have one of these strapped to my leg in the upcoming apocalypse. Doubt we'll have to deal with zombies. I'm pretty sure QVC keeps those things busy. But these would more than do the job. Nah I'm talking about looters and scavengers. One look at this thing and they'll know one of two things: you don't play..... Or your hungry and ready for meat! If you want to get better than this.... Youre gonna have to get something medieval or Mongolian. Or Damascus. For less that twenty bucks it's steal. You'd be a fool not to get two of em. Nuff said.

Great Value! (Clean the hole!!!!!)
Before getting into the review, make sure you THOROUGHLY wash the machine grease out of the hole in the blade before using it on any food. The hole has machine grease caked in it and that stuff is hazardous to your body. DONโT USE THE SPONGE YOU USE FOR YOUR REGULAR DISHES ON CHEMICALS LIKE THIS. This grease is normal for any knife so donโt take this advice as a knock on this knife. That being said, this knife is an AMAZING value. I bought it in late summer (Sept 12) 2022 for about $18. They were sold out and offered a refund but I decided to wait until they restocked. Iโm really glad I did! When the knife arrived on in mid-autumn (November), I wasnโt sure what to expect. Right out of the box this thing is sharp. Itโs not a razor blade but it cuts tomatoes without squishing them so itโs good enough for its intended use. It arrived covered in lubricant to protect it from corrosion while in storage and shipping which worked well. Not a blemish on this thing. It looks just like the pictures. The craftsmanship is great. Itโs sturdy and has a nice large handle. I wear XL gloves and the handle fit nicely into my grip. If you have smaller hands the grip may be a little bulky but my wife used it without issue (to hack open a young coconut). The handle is made out of wood with 3 pins through it that resemble screws. Theyโre not easy to remove and I donโt want to mess with it now but eventually it might be a fun project to make a custom handle for this knife. One small note on the handle. It looks like the blade had blue protective plastic wrap Before the handle was attached and some of the blue wrapper is still visible under the edge of the handle. That perfectly fine to me but some might want to know. All in all, excellent knife for the price. 10/10

Solid, Sharp, and Powerful โ Great Value for Heavy-Duty Chopping!
This Juvale meat cleaver is a beast in the kitchen! The build quality is solid, and the blade is sharp and thick, making it perfect for chopping through meat, poultry, and even small bones with ease. It feels durable and well-made, especially for the price โ definitely great value for money. It is a bit on the heavier side, but that actually helps with the chopping power. Just takes a little getting used to if you donโt typically use heavy knives. The wooden handle offers a firm grip, and overall, it feels like a professional tool at a budget-friendly price. If youโre looking for a strong, effective cleaver that gets the job done, this one wonโt disappoint!

Great Knife for a great price
For the price, this cleaver can not be beat. It is a bone splitting machine. It is on the heavy side, easy of use might me tough for some. You will need to have some arm strength to use this for an extended period of time. It came plenty sharp and needed no sharpening out of the package. For the price and weight i think it is very well balanced. Functionality is works perfect. I didn't give it 5 stars because on the wood handle. It is a little rough around the edges. But that being said I would totally buy this knife again.

Tiny complaints, huge value
So, I'm going to start with a couple tiny nits to pick. 1. The handle is unfinished. Technically safe for the dishwasher, but that would bleach out and damage the handle. I see no reason to ever put it in the dishwasher so really no big deal. 2. Mystery metal. Besides "stainless" you have no idea what it's made of. This kind of matters if you manage to use it enough that you have to sharpen it. For the regular home cook this may, in fact, never even come up. 3. Screw heads in the handle. The philips heads in the handle could possibly collect food, leading to cross contamination. 4. The handle is quite large, if you have small hands it might make it hard to use. All these "complaints" aside this cleaver sails through chicken, turkey, lamb, and pork bones (I have not tried tried cracking large beef bones). The wood handle affords a good grip, even if your hands are a little slick from fat. The out of the box edge it terrific (miles better than the smaller, duller, more slippery, and MUCH more expensive Henckels cleaver I used previously). I am generally loathe to award five stars (nothing is perfect), but the price to performance ratio of the Juvale cleaver is off the charts. For me, this cleaver is pretty much ideal.

The Beast =)
Wow, this is a serious cleaver! Heavy, solid... a beast. Definitely for chopping larger bones/roasts, such as beef, venison, pork. Need strong hands to wield this, smaller wrists will probably tire quickly even though the balance provides comfort while using. Also, you'll need to have a chopping block or large cutting board, as this will penetrate thinner boards. Fit and finish is good, looks great...cleaning is simple as the wood handle appears to be sealed with some type of varnish (guessing food-friendly shellac) allowing you to submerge in soapy water or wipe down with a soapy cloth then rinse. Great value for the money.

Ever wish you could get away with using an axe in the kitchen? If so, look no further!
One thing should be made clear before all else; this is not a knife, this is a knife shaped hatchet. I'm an institutional cook, so I have big cutting jobs to do regularly and was looking for a large cleaver that would laugh at things that a cleaver for home use would whimper at. I bought this hoping it would be beefy enough to do what I asked it to do and was thrilled with how big and heavy this knife really is. The pictures and descriptions do not do it credit. I actually have a hatchet that is lighter than this thing. The knife... axe... whatever came with a relatively dull blade, but a few minutes on my stone put a pretty good edge on it. The angle is pretty steep, but this is for hacking through bones and rinds, not slicing tomatoes, so I'm cool with that. Some reviewers have mentioned handle problems, which has not happened to me yet, but the blade is good with a full tang, so making a new handle won't be a big deal if I ever have to do it. For actually using it, it's so big that it's surprisingly tiring, but worth it. One important thing to note: this knife does not stop... for anything. *including the first little bit of a cheaper poly cutting board If that concerns you, look elsewhere- but not literally, at least not while using this knife, you may lose a finger... seriously, this knife will laugh at a finger (bone and all likely). Summary - If you find yourself wishing you had an axe in the kitchen, buy this. If you occasionally have to butcher a chicken, this will be overkill (like C4 and napalm to kill a spider overkill)

Not a butcher knife
After reading the description I bought this. This was not even able to cut a frozen brisket bone. It is a waste of money.
