Excellent quality windlass. Installation easy if you carefully follow the directions and you’re a reasonably do it yourself person.

I wrote a review not long ago after I bought the Pro Fish 700 and it was WAY premature. I had bought a bad Pro Fish 700 before and fully did not expect to get another bad one but I have! With exactly the same problem as the first! I have been talking to Lewmar dealers and service people and the consensus is unanimous this thing is awfuL! The Pro Fish 700 is flatly a very very bad design with many flaws. I am now forced to take the SECOND one off for exactly the same problem as the first and send it back to Lewmar AGAIN. But this was my LAST Lewmar product these things are really terrible just ask any Lewmar service tech they will admit how bad they are. Get anything else but this and save yourself a lot of heartache. UPDATE: 6 September 2020 Well Pro Fish 700 NUMBER 3 (third one I have had) has seized up just like the first two. This one was free because Lewmar knows the defect internally with the 700 but is content just taking them back and sending you a new one. The process takes about 6 weeks because the tech in the US has to "look at it" and then contact Lewmar to send a new one. I have talked to two techs at two different shops and they both say the same thing! They don't even try to fix them because everybody knows what the defect is but Lewmar will just keep on sending you new ones over and over. This is insane! So as they start to seize here's what happens. The gypsy plunger starts to bang harder against the frame and the retraction will get slower drawing more and more amps. You can remove the gypsy and lube up whatever you want but the defect is way inside the gearing in the motor itself. Eventually it bangs louder and louder then either seizes in either the forward or rearward motion. Locks up tighter than a drum. This whole thing is really sad. Here's the BIG TAKEAWAY: THE TECHS HAVE ADVISED ME THE PRO FISH 900 DOES NOT SHARE SAME DEFECT. AVOID THE 700!
