A Potent Stepping Stone In Getting Off Your Sofa and Back Into Being Fit
Preface: I had purchased and use the original Slim in 6 about 13 years ago after a bad breakout that I had eaten my way through. Suddenly, I was 35# overweight and I figured this was a good a shot as any. I stayed with it and got back to my original weight and then a bit even below that. >>FFWD to 3 weeks ago... after several moves across the country for my company with new roles each time and getting rundown and sick several times, I have put those 35# + 10# on --- 45# past where I need to be. That seems huge. It is :/ I looked through all the DVDs I had on Insanity (I barely got through the fitness test when I WAS in shape), PX90 (I couldn't keep up) and a bunch of others. Then I remembered Slim in 6 and found it online and got it the next day.Today: I'm 10 days in and glad I went this direction, again. It's not flashy and fast with bass pumping and a crowd behind an instructor screaming and panting and falling over. It's Debbie Siebers and just 2 other people behind her and it's what I need right now. This wasn't the original version I had used, prior... they've upped it with some new tricks and combine moves in new ways that I give them credit for it being more challenging and effective. The idea is to do each of the 3 DVDs for 2 weeks then the next. I surprised myself by going to the 2nd DVD after the first week because I felt I was ready, or at least to give it a shot and if it was too much I could always stick with the 1st - but I'm 3 days into the 2nd DVD.What I really like is how they change-out what you are working and how you are working into sections, and how they give you small breaks where you aren't stopping but you can still recoop a bit to go on to the next big set of moves. It's tough but it's also light and Debbie throws out joking comments at times that make this different that intense hard-core DVDs that have you crying and collapsing every 5 minutes. That said, this is a stepping-stone for me --- I plan down the road to try Insanity again and maybe even PX90, but this is the means for me to get back on track at a pace and in a way I feel good about and know I won't hurt myself doing. I feel accomplished and able to still move when I'm done, and they really do put a lot of thought and science behind how these workouts are setup because I DO see that I'm doing more and lasting longer each time I do them. You see your own progress daily if you stick with this. The one CON that so many reviews mention and I agree with - the resistance bands are absolutely cr@p LOL But I didn't buy this for the bands, I bought it for the program on the DVDs. Short-term fix: I pull the bands out of the clips and reset them before each time I workout. They seem to hold for at least a whole workout most of the time. Long-term: if you plan to do this ongoing and not just 6 weeks, invest in better resistance bands, or these will really make you crazy snapping out of the clips during your workouts over and over LOLTop Tips:- Sit down and watch each of the 3 sections as you're ready for them. I watched the first all the way through before I started. I wanted to know what I was getting into and what to expect and roughly how long each section was and what I'd be doing. It was much easier mentally that way than being surprised and overextending myself.- If you have to stop, hit PAUSE, don't just let them keep going without you. I found that when I do this I build up endurance much faster. Sure it takes longer than the actual run-time of the DVD, but I think it's 100% worth it.- Absolutely do the stretches! What's not sore today will definitely be sore tomorrow and even moreso the day after! I'll be 100% honest and say that while I can complete the exercise portion of the 2nd DVD with about 5-6 pauses to catch my breath and let my muscles rest a moment, when I get to the end I'm too wiped to do the 6-7 minutes of stretches and yoga moves (holding a Proud Warrior pose after 45+ minutes of pushing myself is something I just can't do yet). SO--- I do the first minute or so of stretches that are laying on the floor and I hit PAUSE, and I give myself however long I want - 15, 20 minutes even - and then I do those stretches. I don't start to do something else and get sidetracked - I make sure I do those stretches because they will save you a ton of sore and also help you build-up to keep moving forward.- Set how many days you will do this and can stick to, realistically. My desire was 6 days a week, but I promised myself I would do 4 and would hold myself to that no matter what. I managed to do 5 last week and instead of feeling discouraged like I had let myself down, I felt good because I had done 1 more than I had set realistically for myself. Because long-term commitment and believing in yourself is what gets this done and gets you through every workout.- Calculate your calories out, especially proteins. The first time I did this I lost a lot of weight FAST - this program does what it says it will if you stick with it, but I wound up with some loose skin (not a ton, but no one wants loose skin) because I was cutting my calories too low to lose too much in a way my body couldn't keep up with. I was lucky and as I increased my calories and added heavy weight into my regime, that the loose skin filled in over time. No regrets but I learned first-hand what trainers mean when they talk about saying to not calorie-starve yourself to lose weight when working out. Depending on your goals and how your body is, maybe none of this applies to you, but I felt it worth sharing. This isn't the program I will be doing months from now, but it's the program that will get me to the other programs I want to do- and it's an amazing and potent stepping-stone to get off the sofa and back into being fit.

Great Low-Impact Workouts!
I have been on the hunt for a new (to me) low-impact workout. I already have many different workout programs from both The Firm and Beachbody. When I saw video clips of the Slim in 6 program, I decided to give it a try. When it arrived, I "previewed" the workouts to see what they were like and what I was in for. What I saw, I liked! There are three DVDs: Start It Up! (approximately 25 minutes), Ramp It Up! (approximately 50 minutes) and Burn It Up! (approximately 60 minutes) On each DVD, they have additional workouts: Slim & Limber (approximately 15 minutes) and Slim & 6-Pack (approximately 10 minutes). On the Start It Up! DVD, there are two "bonus workouts": Thin Thighs Guaranteed (approximately 10 minutes) and Cardio Core Express (approximately 30 minutes). It also comes with a resistance band.Debbie Siebers is a wonderful instructor. She offers positive encouragement all throughout the workouts. She does transition through to the next move rather quickly, though. There isn't a whole lot of time to have "What the heck have I gotten myself into?!" moments. Even though the transitions are quick, they are easy to follow along with.I like that she takes time really ensure you are warmed up before beginning the workout and takes the time to ensure you cool down at the end. All the workouts no-impact to low-impact. This is perfect for someone like me who has issues with the jumping in many workout videos. There is no modifier in any of the workouts. There are not too many moves which would need a modifier. If you have balance issues, I recommend keeping a chair nearby to help keep balance. The resistance band may look all sweet and innocent . . . But it isn't! I found myself A LOT more sore using the band than I do when I use hand weights. It will definitely help toward achieving the results I want. Before beginning this workout program, I highly stress "previewing" the entire workout to see if there are any movements you may need to have modifications for. It was the first thing I did because I have low back issues. If I needed to modify something, I wanted to know which moves and then research how to modify them. The movements in all of the workouts are very familiar. I have performed many with the FIRM workout programs and Beachbody programs. So for me, there were no unfamiliar moves. The way the program is set up is you do the Start It Up! workout for two weeks. The second two weeks will be Ramp it Up! The last two weeks will be Burn It Up! However, that schedule is not set in stone. You can do any of them for longer periods of time, if you want. This has entered my list of Favorites, that's for sure!

Came with everything it says it does & love it!
I am not one to write reviews ever, but because I read so many of them on here before purchasing the product, I figured why not? I bought this program, even though some people said it didn't come with all the DVD's or the resistance band and rest assured- when I opened the box, it came with exactly everything it said it did. All 3 DVD levels for all 6 weeks. Plus it has extra workouts on some the DVD's for stretching, extra core work, extra thigh work, etc. It did come with the pink resistance band, nutrition guide, etc.Being that I am pretty out of shape and health problems took over for awhile- I ended up gaining quite some weight and after consulting with my physician and everything I decided to give Slim in 6 a shot. I did the first DVD for the first time, about 30 minutes ago and honestly, I loved it. It was nice and refreshing. It is nice to have something new to do for a workout too and Debbie is like the nicest lady ever.I will add more after a few weeks of doing this regularly and let you know how to goes. As of right now- it is an A+ in my book and no worries on the shipment, because in the box I got, it came with everything it shows. :)Namaste all!-------------------after 3 weeks of use----------------------I am still loving it. Instead of doing everything in 6 weeks, I decided to take it slow and do them all over the course of 12 weeks- so 1 dvd per month. It was really hard at first, but she is right in that it does get easier the more you do it. Only 3 weeks in and I am already losing inches. Haven't weighed myself yet, but the fact that most of my pants are falling off without even walking around, speaks volumes-- and I am not following the nutrition guide, I am doing a nutrition thing as guided by my physician and weight is still coming off/toning up.-----------------after 4 months of use-----------------------I got used to the first DVD but could never actually do everything they do in it. I then tried to do the next one up from that and it is way too hard for me. And I didn't even try the third one. When you jump into this workout set you should already be at a good fitness level. It ended up not being my cup of tea so to speak but I found something else that I am enjoying that is the opposite of slim in 6 (I felt like it was too much, but this new thing is great). IntenSati is awesome, a great workout that gets you sweating without killing you while you do it.

4★★★★ tars
I ordered the Slim in 6 DVD workout because I previously owned it. However; I somehow misplaced it and I needed to get back to basics when it comes to my health. The copy I owned was gifted to me by my inlaw and now that I got my own full DVD package I was super impressed with it.First; lets just start with prime, wow it totally pays off because I literally ordered this on a Friday and it was at my door the next morning. This workout package comes with the following items which honestly I thought was awesome for the price I paid. The box comes with:*3 workout DVDs,* A Workout calendar,*Step-by-step Nutrition Guide,*6 Day Express diet plan, which I found very easy to follow*There is also a 2 additional workouts BONUS and a measuring tape*and last a Slim training resistance band (which I found it steady and reliable compared to some I have previously owned and ended up breaking)I loved how the instructions were super easy to follow and the dvd's themselves were easily explained too. I did struggled on my first workout not even going to lie but that's because my body is not used to this, been a while but the key is consistency and I plan to stick with it. I realized the copy I used to own had a combination of the same workouts except this one is much better; Debbie adds different moves that I found helpful.Overall, I am very happy with this product and my shipment. I tend to follow through and get the results I want. The only complaint I have is couple of the disks were hard to get out from the case; like the glue was stuck to it on some corners. I just hope that they don't end up damaged in the long run. However; other than that I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a total body change and is ready to commit.

LOVE This NEW Slim in 6 (Summary of Primary Differences)
I did the original version of Slim in 6 about 6 years ago and had remarkable results. Although I maintained my weight since, I wanted to gain more tone and definition and thought I would do this again but couldn't find my DVDs. SO when I saw there were 2 versions (the original and this one) I opted to go with the newer and I LOVE it! Primary differences are as follows: 1) Start it Up is a MUCH better workout - flow is better and it is more 'hearty' without being too much. It is also 35 minutes compared to the 25 minutes of the original (although the new packaging still says 25 minutes - Beachbody has never been great about these kinds of details.) 2) Ramp it Up is also much better. No missed counts, everything flows far better, etc. Even if you never moved to Burn it Up, I would bet you would get really great results over time. It is far better than the original version. Similar to Start it Up, Ramp it Up increased by 10 minutes to 55 (even though packaging refers to the old 45 minutes). 3) Finally Burn it Up I think is the most changed. The series was never high impact, but she has taken it down a notch, I think. I am in a lot better condition than I was 6 years ago, but I did the entire 6 weeks (actually 12!) and I was still dying at different parts on different days. This seems a lot less intense BUT I am seeing the same (possibly better) results! New science? I don't know; I just love that I don't dread popping it in every day :). There are only a couple MAYBE 3 max technical errors TOTAL on all 3 DVDs which is a HUGE improvement from the original. No remembering to switch legs and arms daily to make sure you get an even workout. And exactly like the original, what is great for me is that after you have followed along a couple of times you can watch other TV while you have this running either in PIP or a laptop and the time flies! What is truly amazing is Debbie is <<gulp>> around 50 (only slightly younger in this new DVD set) and defies natural law from skin to hair to body (and no weird super tight or overly plumped up 'facial tweaking' that I could tell.) Talk about motivating! :)

Not Effective Unless You Are A Total Beginner
I have been doing this workout for two weeks and I have been very careful with what I eat. I have actually gained 3 or 4 pounds. Some people may say that is muscle but I'm not loosing inches either and my clothes aren't fitting any differently. Maybe it's because this workout DVD is for beginners and I'm in better shape than I thought. My last workout program that I did was P90X3, that was in the spring. I got a little off the wagon for a couple months, however, and wanted to get back into the game. I am always up for learning new workouts, it is kind of a passion of mine. I always like to see the different moves that each instructor focuses on.While her workouts make me sweat and I get sore afterward, I haven't noticed that my body shape is improving. Her workout moves are so outdated and redundant. You will be inundated with throwback moves from the 80s like hip thrusts, leg lifts and those things that Jane Fonda does, you know stuff like raising your arms in the air while you alternate lifting each knee. I don't know what you call them but Debbie does them in between EVERY move. And its not just that the moves are a little outdated, some of them are actually good moves but her low weight, hi repetition formula really isn't effective. I mean bi-cep curls with 3lb weights? Yeah, I can go up to 10lbs or 20lbs but with 3,000 repetitions, you really can't use a normal size weight. It is hard to take this workout seriously. I was surprised to learn it was actually made in 2002.I think that there are some very satisfied customers for this program but they have got to be AARP members (at least) who have never worked out a day in their life. You have to be seriously out of shape and have some really low muscle tone in order to experience improvement by doing these workouts. Some criticize Debbie for being boring but I think she has a delightful personality. However, these workouts are just not my cup of tea. Also, I think people that may consider buying this program should take into account her high repetition and low weight formula. It doesn't help burn calories. A better formula is to do low reps with high weight. That is actually proven to help burn fat much quicker. Also, in an age where most workouts incorporate some version of HIIT (working out at a high intensity then taking breaks) I find that her formula of maintaining low to moderate intensity for an entire 30 minutes to be baffling. I was willing to give it a shot because it was different, but I don't think it is effective. Like I said, I'm gaining weight and not loosing inches.

Simple (in a good way) and Challenging...if you add some modifications
I do advanced Beachbody programs and Cathe 1+ hour super-intense videos (I'd like to see a workout smackdown between Cathe and Shaun T--seriously, I don't know who is more intense), but sometimes I just want a simple, non-dancy, low-impact workout, and Slim in 6 fits the bill. Some reviewers have said these videos are boring--I would say they're more steady and unsurprising, and that's exactly what I want for the days I'm tired from my intense complex workouts and just want to work my muscles, get my heart rate up and not have to remember intricate moves. Here's a tip: I bought Slim in 6 to do on my recovery workout days, but I found that by adding 3-5 pound hand weights and 5-10 pound leg weights you end up getting a very challenging and comprehensive total body workout. My heart rate got up, I was sweating buckets and was surprised at how sore I was the next day. So, now I have the option of doing these workouts without weights for my recovery days, or pushing it by adding weights, which gives me double the number of workout options for this program.Altogether, I'm very glad that I bought Slim in 6. My recommendation for anyone thinking of buying it is to keep in mind that this is generally low impact, isn't dancy, doesn't have high production value, and is for people who want a simple total body workout without a lot of chatting and fancy camera work. Please keep in mind my note about the hand and legweights, above. It adds a whole new level of intensity for those who want to push themselves.

Love it, but know what you are ordering
This DVD contains the first two stages of the six stage Slim in 6 program, plus it contains two bonus workouts: Slim & Limber and Slim & 6-pack. So if you want to do the whole Slim in 6 program, you will have to make an additional purchase.I own a great many exercise DVDs and videos and this is the best I have ever used. Debbie Siebers is careful to explain and demonstrate all the moves. The first stage, Start It Up, is less than a half hour long and is a perfect starting place for me as a fairly out-of-shape middle-aged lady. For others it will be too easy. However, I am probably going to have to stay at this stage an additional week before I am ready to move on to the second stage on this DVD--Ramp It Up. Then I'll probably have to spend several weeks on the second stage as well. So for me, Debbie's whole program is going to take more than six weeks! This is not a "dance-y" hyper exercise program, but a well done series of moves set to music that will get you in shape. I love it and will recommend it to others.

Buy it.....you won't be disappointed!!!
This is my second time buying this program, as i had lost one cd in the original. Let me say that this new one is even better. This is very effective when you use it consistently. I felt much stronger after just a few weeks. Don't hesitate......Buy this one. You wont be disappointed. In saying that.....I am in my late 40's and not into bootcamp type of stuff. There is not a lot of bouncing around either. Just good old fashioned exercises that target those problem areas. Love, love, love it!!!!

This is not what I ordered
The used DVD condition was very good and I received on time. However, this is not what I ordered since it was different to the picture in your website when I order it. In the picture showed SLIM IN 6 WORKOUT base kit contains disc 1-start-up, disc 2-ramp it up, disc 3-Burn-it up + Gear - pink resistance band + Motivational Tools-Simple steps to success, step by step nutritional , Motivational calendar, 6 days express diet plan and slim 6 quick start guide. Whereas what I received just 2 DVD Debbie Sieber's Slim in 6 in original case with artwork (was not in accordance to the mentioned picture). So it is difficult for beginner to do excercise without Motivational tools (reference book) and Slim training pink resistance band.

Enjoyable hour a day body makeover challenge!!!!
I have a whack of health issues including an under-active thyroid plus knee problems. I had seen this advertise on the TV back in the day and was delighted to see that it is still available. Although I maintained my start weight ( I had hoped for a loss but the thyroid issue puts a damper on that), I did manage to lose 2" off of my waist and 2" off of my hips! My clothes fit better now.Pros:Debbie is really upbeat and encouraging. There is different music on each DVD that isn't bothersome. The DVDs are organized so you have the main feature plus the 2 bonus workouts on each DVD. It's easy to travel with the DVDs and the resistance band. It is easy to follow list of clean foods that add nutritional value to your diet.. I really liked the handouts on how to accelerate fitness resultslow impact and it seems to redefine your body with long, lean muscles better than Pilates can!ConsIt takes a minimum of an hour to complete each workout you do, 6 times a week. When you add on the slim & limber and slim & 6 pack (which you do 3-4 times a week), you are looking at an hour and a half. There is no real guide on what to do after these 6 weeks. I'm choosing to redo the whole thing and see if I get any more results, as mine happened in the first stage of the program (by week 2). Also, seeing as how this is a product really targeted towards women and is 6 weeks, why isn't there any modifications on what to do when you get "that time of the month"? The period stuff will happen sometime during this process. We generally get cravings and cramps so what should we do? I began my "time of the month" right at the start of the third stage which is the hardest and pushed through it!! I did not gain anything by doing that!If you've been off of exercise for a while, this helps to get you back into it. Consistency is key and you will sweat. I live in Northern Canada and I was doing this at the end of February and I was very sweaty despite the frigid temperatures outside, so drinking a lot of water is very essential. Enjoy this 6 week transformation and think of it as a mini retreat that will benefit you without hurting you.
