Beating Cancer with Nutrition (Fourth Edition) Rev

Thank you for writing this book - although it is more technical, which does the more medical readers a more interesting insight as well. However, the book provided plenty of information in layman terms that you would not feel that you have missed out on any information. From our experience, we have seen how nutrition has supported RT, Chemo; but we were not as brave not to apply these treatments; we are using RT to 'debulk' the C cells and allow the nutrition to support the body to clean up the rest of the C cells that modern technology can not even detect. The book is a wealth of information that is so useful for both the patient and the rest of the family! we realized we could be that close to getting C if we dont change our diet drastically, and we have a pretty healthy diet, so I thought. The book gave us a lot of hope in fighting this C, whereas the doctors have applied a very negative view since we all have learnt there is a huge limitation of what chemo and RT can actually do on its own. We have taken the power back from the doctors and it feels good that we can now take charge by making sure the patient is being feed the food that the body needs. So far so good, even though we have been given the stage IV diagnosis, the doctors have not been able to explain why the tumors have shrunk (this was before treatment and just by changing the diet completely for three weeks before treatment could start)!!! Every body is different, but we know diet is making a huge difference. it is must read book to allow you to have the power back and take away the feeling that the floor has been taken away from your feet. Choose a doctor that supports your nutrition - it is critical.

I am a 48 year old former engineer who knew little about cancer when my wife was diagnosed with RCC in 2008. Like others we followed the docs instructions and rushed into surgery. Had I known then what I know now, we probably would have avoided the nephrectomy. Two months after surgery the cancer had metastasized to the lung and within three months it was in the liver and lymph nodes. Our experience with conventional treatment was a horrifying journey. My wife took a drug for just four days and I thought I was watching her die before me. That's when I began trying to find a way to save her. 'Beating cancer with nutrition' was an invaluable tool in our future. It is packed with valuable insight into the cancer epidemic and the industry that it developed as well as the importance of lifestyle choices that allowed cancer cells to overpower your immune system. The book is designed to educate the reader on optimal nutrition to improve the outcome in medically treated cancer patients. Patrick Quillin presents a mountain of useful information and recipes to boost the immune system and strengthen the body with diet. It's a very valuable resource and a good read, I can't emphasize this enough. I used what I learned from this book to further my research into natural therapy and combined what I had learned from the book as adjuvant therapy with natural supplementation for my wife. Between May 2009 and March 2010, my wifes tumor growth was reversed and she is now cancer free without suffering the horrible side effects of synthetic drug treatments or any permanent cellular damage. Our experience taught us so much that I have a book in publishing now called 'Cancer shouldn't kill you just make you smarter' and hope to have it at Amazon.com soon. I thank Patrick Quillin whole-heartedly for his book, it was the first step in my wifes cancer making me smarter, being able to reverse RCC and changing our lifestyle to prevent its reoccurance. If you yourself or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, you MUST get this book.

This book is full of great info. For some people it may be a little too technical and explanatory, but for me it's perfect. I like to know quite a bit of detail about the how's and why's of most things I seriously consider getting involved with. This book is perfect for anyone that is contemplating a nutritional lifestyle change even if they themselves are not undergoing cancer treatment. I bought this book to help me understand how I could help my son that is being treated for melanoma so that he would have the best chance of beating it. I also have been following the recommendations that fit my lifestyle needs right along side with my son, as well as the two of us making a few other adjustments in our diets. I have to say, that an unexpected thing has happened. He's feeling more energetic and overall healthier, and I, recently having been injured at work, being normally very physically active both at work and at play have lost over 16-lbs since changing the way we eat even though I have been forced into a sedentary lifestyle temporarily. In fact it's worked so well my son and I both intend to continue following this advice in the future even after he kicks cancers butt. If you're reading this review you or someone you know is probably in a fight for their life. Don't fool around or waste any time thinking, get this book and start doing!!! Great book I really think anyone could benefit from reading it!! May God bless you and help you though your time of need.

All cancer patients can benefit from reading this fairly comprehensive treatise on nutritional therapies for their disease, as there is a wealth of information regarding nutritional support and healing testimonies. It seems as though the author compiled much of the content from earlier books, however, which could account for the innumerable repetitions; there are places sorely in need of an editorial eye, too, but don't let that stop you from reading this work: it could literally save your life. The emphasis is mostly on nutrition in conjunction with traditional treatments (ie., chemo, radiation) but there are also stories of people who were healed completely via nutritional protocols. The charts are among the worst I have ever seen in any book anywhere, but again this doesn't really matter. Read what the doctor has to say regarding nutrition and mineral supplementation, and take your oncologists' negative prognosis with a grain of salt. The only other thing I find lacking in this book is an actual diet to follow--instead you get guidelines and some resource referrals. Since cancer is so different in different people, I can understand how a "one size fits all" approach diet wouldn't work anyway, and there are suggestions on who to refer to for the proper help. Overall, a must-read book for anyone who is sick with cancer, or worried about becoming so. Also: if your doctor tells you not to supplement your traditional cancer treatments with nutritional support, READ THIS BOOK before following his or her (bad) advice!

I had gotten this book back in January of 2007, when my mother-in-law had colon cancer. I was the one taking care of her after her surgery and this book was very informative and very helpful. The diet that was given to my mother-in-law after surgery was terrible. Lots of canned food and hidden surgars. They wanted her to gain weight, but the way they were trying to achieve this was absolutely horrible. This book came in handy for me and I was able to change her diet completely. The only thing that she hasn't been able to give up is ice-cream, but other than that we used this book as a bible to help her get healthy. The doctors wanted her to have kemo and radiation since her cancer marker were so high before the surgery and were still above the mark that they reccomend for treatment, but my mother-in-law decided that since her lymph nodes and all the tissure around the tumor was negative of cancer, she opted out. With diet we were able to bring her markers under the mark that they recommend treatment. I gave her the book and then recently bought another for me to have here at home. They test her blood every three months and every six she has other tests and so far she is doing remarkably well. The doctors are very impressed with her. She also is now walking about six miles a day. She says that walking really makes her feel good and she has her routine that she does, rain or shine. Thank you Mr. Quillin for writing this book.

I want to thank you for that book, not only beacuse it gives so much of proffesional information and this helpful feeling of having a control over the disease but specially because of it's form and by that - I mean the summary in the begining of a book. I wll explain: I am polish person living in Poland. My Mother who is now thriving with cancer is willing to reach for a integrative medicine solutions, specially that so called "modern" medicine has nothing more to offer her after One year of treatment. Unfortunatelly my Mom doesen't speak or read english so all literature available on amazon is useless. In polish stores there is nothing about intergrative medicine exept from some academic articles or monastery's recepies. Thanks to the summary in a book which I could translate quite fast into mu language and print to her - she can have an overall look on which part she is more interested in. Now I will translate to her the chapters she nneds t dive in thanks to kindle app and google docs. Thank you for that and I hope we can have a polish translation of the book and also others (hisch I also read( some day

I've done so much research that this didn't have much I haven't already read about. But for a novice, this is a good choice. His diet is very forgiving compared to other very strict vegan or vegetarian or juice-based diets prescribed for cancer. The new edition has a big cookbook in the middle which I could have done without. I also found his chart in the middle to be inconsistent. It also is back in the dark ages when recommending canola oil which has small amounts of carcinogens and other toxins in it. There is no such thing as a canola plant. That is FDA speak for 'Canada's oil'. Canada paid off the FDA to get a GRAS certification which is meaningless. In Europe, they call it what it is - rape seed. They mostly use it for animal feed over there and don't consider it a viable oil for human consumption. Also he says on one side of the chart that celtic salt is bad but on the other side, celtic salt is recommended as a condiment... I haven't listened to the CD but I did lend the book to a friend who just faced her first bout of breast cancer. She's been consuming and craving sugar like crazy. Hopefully, it will teach newbies to cancer to eliminate sugar and processed food, dairy, unhealthy non-organic proteins (not all animal protein is bad!), alcohol except for red wine if you can't do without it, smoking, etc. Also, there is a lot of information on supplements. I think this was originally written in 1993 (I don't have my copy on hand) so it really didn't appear to be that much updated from his older versions....I bought the book because he was featured in Ty Bollinger's 11-part series on cancer and he talked about music and its role in strengthening the immune system...He seems like a nice man....

First, I want to tell you all that I valued this book so high that I decided do translate it and publish in Croatian language (my native). And I am not in publishing business or doing it for selling profit. This effort started year ago and I hope it will be on shelves shortly (Croatian title will be "Rak pobijedite prehranom"). Also, I want to thank Dr. Quillin for giving me his approval. I got interested in subject of nutrition in treatment of cancer indirectly and have started reading different information sources on the subject. Information in this book is consistent with many other sources. What makes this book special is quality, quantity and density of information presented for layman reader to understand, believe and follow. It is 400 page book written by the PhD MD whose life-time profession is exactly of that topic. If you think I am beating my drum giving this book 5 star review, just read the reviews. Read those personal testimonies on life-death situations, choose option "Newest First" instead of "Most Helpful First", and see average experience people have with it. In this light my review kind-of don't deserve to be listed. I can also recommend another book "Anticancer, A New Way of Life, New Edition" by David Servan-Schreiber (someone translated this one to Croatian language and it is available to buy).

A must have for anyone with cancer and their families. Very comprehensive, expert information from a very experienced nutritionalist. In the first pages, Patrick Quillin writes about other factors aside from nutrition that could have contributed towards cancer and consequently how the patient can help themselves. Having read over 25 books on complimentary help for cancer, this one was one of the best and in no way quacky like some that I came across. There seems to be precious little knowledge, training and hence advice about diet and nutrition by docotrs and even oncologists, so this book was invaluable. This book gives some power back to the individual and their families.

While this book has some good advice, it's the same advice one can find in many cancer books. This one seems like mostly advertising for the author's products!

I found this to be a very informative book for both those dealing with cancer themselves, as well as others in the roles of care-takers for them. Even for others, like myself, who simply greatly wish to share/spread the knowledge & wisdom of Dr.Quillin's that he's incorporated herein! This gentleman knows his area of expertise, & I personally have had the privelage of going with a friend who had cancer, to one of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, where we stayed for 2 weeks while she received treatments, & we ate deliciously at every meal in their hospital/facility's cafeteria, under Dr.Quillin's Directorship! I say with all of my heart's belief & conviction.....if I were ever to get a cancer diagnosis myself, I'm going to Cancer Treatment centers of America ( there are numbers of them located in different areas of the nation) The particular one I went with my friend to was located in Zion, Illinois. And it truly was an experience I'll never forget & be forever grateful for! Since this time I've had 2 more precious individuals of family & friends, receiving their cancer diagnosis' & HAVE SEEN TO THEIR RECEIVING THIS BOOK INTO THEIR HANDS! I ATTEST TO & BELIEVE IN THAT cancer (small letters used on purpose!) does not automatically have to mean a death sentence?! This book can be indeed used as one of God's Tools wherein the wisdom given Dr.Quillin' is laid out/shared for others finding themselves in need of it!! I hope anyone reading my review will be encouraged in getting this LIFE GIVING BOOK for anyone they love/know who has cancer, or like myself for themselves, if they're wanting to be supporters/encourages of putting Dr.Quillin's tenants/procedures into practice & building better health! :-))

i bought many books on this subject but THIS is the book has saved my life, I recomend it 1000%.

Its really good, a must read for people who want to know about cancer killing nutrition. Its very detailed.
