Not only is the mat heat resistant to protect your work surface, it's also grooved in common patterns to help you with your designs. When I say grooved, the patterns are actually inset into the surface of the silicone mat. Triangles, rectangles, hexagons, circles, you get the idea. It also comes with a completely smooth plastic surface so you can freehand whatever design you wish. My only disappointment with the mat kit is that it doesn't come with any type of storage. It comes shipped in a plain plastic bag that you end up throwing away. I wish the manufacturer had gone half a step further and used a resealable zip lock-style bag. Right now I'm using a gallon ziplock to keep it clean and safe between uses, but that's not really that cool. For a silicone mat that cost almost 20 bucks, they could throw in a resealable plastic bag.

I gave the MYNT3D 3D Pen Mat Kit to my grandkids thinking it would be a “nice quiet activity.” HA. What I actually gifted was a miniature innovation lab. Within minutes they were tracing designs on the mat like pros, confidently announcing they were “building prototypes.” Prototypes of what? I’m still not sure. But apparently we now own several plastic glasses, a slightly lopsided Eiffel Tower, and something that might be a dog… or a spaceship. The DesignPad makes it easy because the patterns are right there to follow, and the FreePad lets them go wild with their own creations. It’s structured chaos, my favorite kind. Best part? • They’re focused. • They’re creating. • They’re not glued to a screen. Worst part? I was asked to try it. Let’s just say my “butterfly” looked more like a nervous bowtie. Overall, fantastic gift for grandkids if you want creativity, laughter, and the chance to proudly display slightly wobbly masterpieces on your fridge. Five stars from this officially promoted “Chief Craft Supervisor.”

I really do like this silicon mat. I ended up ordering 3 more and used it with both my Mynt3d and Geeetech 3d pens - both worked great. It was very easy to create round, square and grided structures. It will definitely help when creating prototypes and designs. One thing I did really like was that it made my straight parts straighter and same with circles to make it look more like a printed part. I plan to use these for a series of videos turning a walking dead comic page by page into 3d pen materials. So I am very happy

Entiendo que algunos productos de silicona tienen costo alto pero en este caso si pagas más por la marca que otra cosa. El design pad es muy funcional con los patrones geométricos, pero el freepad es una lámina de acetato cualquiera que puedes comprar en la papelería en 20 pesos.
