I have to cut my son's hair while he is sleeping. Will the clipper combs help ensure that I am cutting the same length each time?

Karen,With the comb attached you won't be able to cut closer than the length of the comb (1/2" for the #1 comb up to 1" for the #6 comb). However if you are holding the hair out as you cut it will cut a bit shorter than if it is just flowing into the comb. So we suggest you do your first cuts with a longer comb and then switch to a shorter comb to even things out.Sincerely,Matthew Michel

Do these work on african-american textured hair? i've never had a barber use scissors on my hair but i'm willing to try for my son.

Honestly don't know. My son has fine, straight hair. Reviewing the YouTube video it does appear these scissors these scissor work quite well with textured hair. The scissors work just like clippers only your hand is doing the cutting work.

Can I get extra accessories for cutting the hair longer? Like the number 8 that comes with clippers.

We don't carry them yet ourselves but plan to soon. You can buy those made for electric clippers. If you email us we can confirm the compatibility. The standard size clipper, like most clippers made by WAHL, will have compatible combs:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UZEQK0

how well do these work on thick curly hair?

I can only attest to using them on straight hair. But I do wet the hair down so it makes it "thick" and it works really well. I do all the haircuts in the tub. The teeth on the guides are pretty wide so I would think it would go through curly hair pretty well.

Great

My 3 year old hates getting his hair cut and only wants me to do it. This product has been a lifesaver since I don't know how to cut hair, but this can help guide you and make it look professional for sure.

Excellent product, life changing 🙂

This item has changed mine and my sons life so much. Before we used these it would be so hard to do his hair and would take a long time, sometimes days. These are straight forward to use, and get excellent results! I would recommend these to everyone parent with a SEN child 🙂
