I like this meter mainly because it is easy to use, reliable, and I think very affordable for what it does. The display is nice and easily readable. Mine came with 2 batteries (only 1 is needed), 100 testing strips and 100 lancets along with the automatic plunger. It also has a test solution to confirm the meter works correctly, and a zippered bag to keep everything together. The meter comes with software so you can upload the data to your computer, add notes, calculate averages, follow trends over time, etc. I use my meter and upload the data to my laptop every day. I then make adjustments in the foods I eat from my data log, and watch how I can reduce blood sugar spikes. There is something both satisfying and very educational about all of this. While I like the meter, there are a few issues that I don't like about the software. First is that I cannot erase data points in the meter itself. If you are playing around with it when you first get it (like I was) and you now want to erase the bad data from the good data, you can't do it (there is a way, but it involves resetting the meter). Now you can omit the bad data from entering into calculations in the software, but this is not the same as totally erasing the data. I just find it very annoying that I can't erase obviously bad data easily from the meter itself, or go back and reassign test solution data that was accidentally marked as general data. A second issue I have is that the software is very limited in what it can do. You really can't change any of the displays to perform custom calculations or make personalized plots of the data. I can move the data into another software package to do these things, but it is a hassle to do that. In any case, the software is free and it is helpful. But if you want more sophisticated analysis and graphing, you will need to use Excel or SPSS, or something similar. Most people will not need to analyze their blood glucose in such detail, but it is a shame the software is so limiting. I definitely recommend that you learn to use the free software to get the most from the meter.

I’ve been using the Metene TD-4116 Blood Glucose Monitor Kit for a while now, and it’s been a really reliable tool for everyday glucose tracking. It’s simple enough that I don’t dread testing, but it still gives me the accurate, consistent results I need to manage my health confidently.

Received a defect in this item but reached out to the seller and within a short amount of time it was resolved and I was sent a new one right away! Excellent customer service! This blood sugar monitor is a great , simple ,easy to use device! Would totally recommend!

Accuracy is very, very, very very questionable. Reads higher than then high end readers. Typically off by 10 to 20 points. Otherwise works well.

I received the monitor kit quickly and on time. The kit came with clear directions and it is easy to use. It also is in a convenient carry pack.

Very good deal on a glucose monitor and came with plenty of lancets and test strips. Much better than my old one. super fast shipping as well.

Once you learn how to use it, then it works great. Good product.

I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My PCP did not prescribe but my Wife wanted to know where my sugar was and would not let me eat sweats until I started monitoring my glucose. After a good bit of research, I settled on a Metene TD-4116 Blood Glucose Monitor Kit, which I purchased on Amazon. I could not make heads or tails of the instructions enclosed with the device, so I did not use the device for over a month. Finally, my Wife showed me a YouTube video that really explained how simple it was to use the device. So used it for just over 2-weeks--37 times to be exact. I absolutely LOVE how simple it is to use the device; HOWEVER, the 38th time I tried to use the lancing device, something snapped inside the device and that was no more lancing device. I’ve really enjoyed using the Metene blood Glucose monitoring device. I had no idea poking my finger to get blood could be so painless; however, I would have expected the lancing device to last a LOT longer than 37 sticks. At this point, I would expect the device should still be under warranty. I sent an email to Metene asking for a replacement lancet. If they send one as fast as I got the original device, I will update this review to let everyone know how great their customer service is. If this part of my review is still here after September 15, 2025...Well I will let you draw your own conclusions. However, this is a great little device and seems to be quite accurate. Rather a "quick pinch" or little 'poke', as long as poike the sides of my fingers, all I ever felt a little pressure and then two to three drops of blood. However, I would expect the lancet device to last longer than 37 uses. Judging by the fact that the device came with 100 testing strips and 100 lancets, I'd have to guess Metene expected it to last longer as well. I just happen to be really skilled in getting defective devices --if companies want to find all the faults with their products, just send them to me!
