Board of Certification Study Guide for Clinical Laboratory Certification Examinations, 5th Edition (BOR Study Guides)

As someone who hasn't studied much for the MLT exam, I've found this book useful so far. Any new knowledge is good knowledge. The little I have studied all came from digital pdf books, so it's nice to have something I can physically flip through Overall recommend. Even if the book doesn't have questions that are identical to what's going to be on the test, it at least gives you an idea of what they consider is important, and includes explanations as to why that's the correct answer (or why other choices were incorrect), again giving you an idea of what they consider to be important If you haven't started studying yet, I'd say this is as good a starting point as any I've worked in a clinical testing lab for the last 2 years, but am not certified. I also have a BS in Biological Sciences. I already knew a good bit of answers from personal knowledge, though didn't know any of the law ones really. It's been a good refresher and teacher for me

Very useful

Buy this here and not from the BOC web sight or from your college book store. This was the best deal I could find. It is way more expensive on their web sight. Also you can resell it for a decent price one you have taken your boards especially if you don't mark in it to much. Although I did to help me study. But if you just got your associates as an MLT and plan to go back to school to become an MT with a bachelors degree, keep the book because its the same one for both tests.

Good afternoon I'm studying the Chem section of this book for the MLS can I get some good advice is it worth my time, the only thing that I have that I can benefit from is I have over 10 years experience in the lab as a phlebotomist and histologist and very little on the job training as a MT, so please can I get some insight about the exam, my plan is to pass it on the first try,

Some chapters have amazing explainations for why an answer is correct, and why the other answers are wrong. Other chapters offer no help what-so-ever. For example: One chapter may explain how to solve a math problem (which is great in case you forgot what the formula was, or don't know where you wen't wrong in your calculations) But another chapter will only say "Calculation." as the description of the answer. There are also questions where it will ask you what is it called when ____? And some chapters will explain the correct answer and explain what the definitions of the other choices given. But in other chapters it will only say "Definition of ___." it will not tell you what the definition IS though. Or what the other answers meant. SO when a chapter only has "Calculation." or "Definition of ___." as an explaination, You aren't really learning anything. Especially when it comes to the math questions. I would also find parts in the book where they would copy word-for-word the description of the answer for the previous question for the next question. For example: (I'm making up this question) Say I have a question about the descripton of SLE. The description of the answer will be "SLE is ......" Then the next question could be about RA. But the description of the answer will also say "SLE is......" SO in that case, I won't know why my answer to the second question is correct or incorrect. I also won't feel confident that the letter answer that the book is providing is the correct answer. It's very disheartening when you buy a book that you need for class and also need in order to study for your board exams and you find errors and entire chapters that don't have helpful information in the descriptions. I did pass my exams on the first try, however, but I attribute that much more to using Lab CE than this BOC book. (one more thing to note, there are also spots where they will ask the same question twice, but give two different answers *and two different sets of answers, such as all the options for one question are not in the second question*. I assume they want you to pick what answer is MOST correct.)

Used this as guide before taking the ascp exam a few years ago. This book made a huge contribution for me passing the exam. However, examinees cannot fully rely on this book alone. This is only used as guide on how questions are going to be presented in the actual exam. A set of questions are given per section then by the end of each section, answers and brief explanation is given.

米国臨床病理学会(ASCP)が出版している本です。構成としては国家試験対策本のような問題集です。内容的には二級臨床検査士〜認定技師のさわり部分でしょうか？この本にはいわゆる奇問・難問は見られない印象でした。日本ではマイナーな検査法や解釈の仕方、写真問題で言う所の染色の色味など違和感を感じる部分は多々ありますが、類題が多く、繰り返し問題を解き、調べ物をしていけば本番でもスムーズに回答できると思います。ASCPが出している本だからといって同じ問題が出るとは限りません。実際出ないことはなかったのですが、自分の場合は5/100問(5%)程と記憶しています。現在は新版が出ているため受験を検討されている方はそちらを購入された方が良いかと思います。例えば微生物検査ではMALDI TOF MS 、血液検査ではFAB分類からWHO分類の変更、生殖医療分野では精液検査、羊水検査や疾患について内容のアップデートが施されています。解説の文末にはリファレンスが付いているので調べ物をする時は便利です。この本だけをやれば通る保証は全くないので星4つにしました。
