The water is coming out dirty/gray after l installed the filter. ls this normal?

Yes that is normal. There is a carbon block inside thefilter and sometime during shipping the filter gets knockedaround and some of that carbon gets loose. lf you drain2-3 gallons, the water will become clear.

After installing a new filter element, the water flow rate isslower. What shouldI do?

Don't worry, the filtered water is cleaner. We useactivated carbon from Sri Lanka, The carbon rod is ahoneycomb hole of uniform size, which can betterintercept the particles in the water.

Is this an exact replacement, filtration and all, of the GE XWF? meaning, is it certified as NSF 42, 53 and 401?

Yes， it has certified NSF 42 and IAPMO certified.
