Can this be used overnight?

I got this for my husband. I thought it was a much better solution for holding a catheter in place than those awful bands. However, he did not like it so he is back to the bands. But, to answer your question, yes, this comfort sleeve may be used overnight.

what size to you recommend for at thin 87 year old man about 6' tall?

To determine what size you'll need, you'll have to measure the circumference of the patient's thigh. As stated in the product's post, just click on the individual size words. SMALL will fit a thigh 12-17.5" around; MEDIUM, 17.5-25.5"; LARGE, 21.5-31.5" and EXTRA LARGE, 25.5-35.5". The fabric is very accommodating/stretchy.

We have trouble changing from overnight bag to leg bag and vice versa - is there any kind of "easy on/off" connector we could try?

Not really. Connectors tend to reduce the tight seal and might leak. It’s best to keep the seal from the catheters to the bag as is.

Do you make the sleeve in black? It would be more discreet with black clothes ... one for formal wear
