Aeotec SmartThings Motion Sensor, Zigbee, Magnetic Mounting, Works with Smart Home Hub and Compatible Zigbee Hubs

You can tell that the motion sensor is a good quality, plus it paired easily with my Zigbee dongle for my Home Assistant. It’s coverage is good and I have yet to have an instance where it detected someone when no one was there or didn’t detect someone when someone was there. That’s all I can ask of quality motion.

I'm using this with a closet light where the wall switch gets inevitably blocked behind some clothes and is mildly troublesome to switch on and off. Now, it is set to come on when motion in the closet is detected and stays on for a few minutes then goes off. Setup was as easy as it gets thru Smartthings and from motion detection to light on, the time is milliseconds. Smartthings shows motion state and temp. Very happy with it so far and highly recommend.

I have a bunch of these that I bought under the Samsung brand some years ago. This one is identical to the others. I've never had an issue with any of them. Motion detection speed and response time is excellent. I was concerned about which type of battery this one needed as the description mentions both a CR2 and a CR123. I was relieved when I opened this one up that the correct battery is a CR2, which saved me from having to stock another type of battery!

The Aeotec SmartThings Motion Sensor works seamlessly with Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant. It’s fast to respond and includes a temperature reading, which is a nice extra feature. However, as a new device, the battery seems to be draining faster than expected, so I can’t fully gauge its long-term battery life yet. It would also be nice if there were an easy way to adjust the dwell time. Overall, it’s a responsive and capable sensor, but the battery drain is something to watch.

I use this motion sensor in an Alexa smart home system to turn some lighting on and off in a room we use for storage in our apartment. This is very convenient since the light switch for the room is behind one of the double glass doors one would open to enter the room. We have several Echo 4th gens in the home so this motion sensor was immediately found by Alexa and was extremely easy to set up and use in routines. It has been 100% reliable and I couldn't be happier with it. UPDATE 12/23/2024: The first one was working so well, I purchased a second motion detector to perform the same function in another room. These are SO handy!

I have been using Hubitat for many years and tried many Zigbee motion detectors. There are, or have been, very good ones but this is tge best. It pairs immediately with Hubitat and does not interfere with the pairing of other devices. It pairs perfectly well through the relays of Zigbee wall switches or outlets. The ability to change directions on the magnetic ball base allows for easily fine tuning where motion is detected. The performance of this motion detector is great. I've bought about a dozen of them so far.

Aeotec is becoming my go-to for Smartthings integrations. You can do much more when a product is Smartthings capable than just Google and Alexa. So many ways to automate the motion to a light switch. I have them connected to multiple lights like the bathroom so during the day when you walk in it cuts on, at 12 am or 2 am when you walk in it cuts the bathroom lights on to 15% so you're not blinded by the lights going to 100% To solve the problem when your in the shower and it cuts off when it doesn't see motion before you set this routine up, see what the temp is before the shower is on and when the shower is running check the temp then create a routine in smartthings that when the light is on AND the temperature is above a certain temp, make the light stay on =) If the battery is at 5% or lower it will also send a notification to everyone's connected phone. If they could come up with a better price, they could be the go-to for home automation.

I’ve wasted money on countless zwave-based motion sensors (Monoprice, Zooz which is the worst by far) for ST hub but this zigbee version is the best by far. This Aeotec is actually a re-branded Samsung since Sammybdecided to get out of the hardware game. 1. It’s easily paired to ST 2. The motion sensor is practically 100% reliable whether used with the ST app or WebCORE. 3. It’s quick and responsive 3. It also has a built-in temp sensor Nothing bad to say about it at all and that’s unusual for a smart motion sensor. You won’t be disappointed.

El sensor funciona perfectamente pero tal cual se informa en la descripción, se necesita un Hub. Pero no es necesario que sea un Hub Smarthings, lo uso con un Hub muchísimo más barato y funciona de maravilla.
