Wrought Iron Patio Furniture Feet Caps, 1-1/2" Replacement Glides 24-Pack

Worked perfectly. Fit both the chairs and the table legs exactly. Just have a rubber mallet ready to help bang them in without damaging them. Original castors wore out and broke away. For this heavy iron furniture, provided the protection needed to keep from scratching and marring the deck wood and finish. Exactly what I needed.

We have some old metal patio furniture we purchased from Home Depot years ago that had the plastic feet protectors broken, Bought these floor protectors and do they work great. As others have mentioned I would prefer them to be thicker but will see how long they hold up. I read quite a few of the reviews that gave tricks on how to install these but mine went in fairly easy. I just put the cups in boiling water for about 5 minutes and then was able to push the cups right into the feet of the furniture by hand. i did have gloves on since the cups were hot but I did not have to us a mallet. In my case I kept the cup pretty level to the foot and then just pushed the edges in a little and the cup went right in. Suspect a lot of the effort has to do with the actual size of the foot as it was built.

I just did 6 chairs, a table, and a glider over the weekend with these. It definitely took some effort, until I got the technique down. Hopefully next time it will be simpler. Once I got the technique it took maybe 30 seconds per cap. I did not have to Dremel the caps or the chairs to make it work 1) Boil water 2) Insert cups into water and let them come up to temperature (about 30 seconds) 3) Wear gloves so you don't burn your hands 4) Insert one side of cap into chair - cap will be tipped when you do this 5) Hold down the side you inserted 6) Eyeball the fit. If it looks like you might be able to use a screwdriver to wedge the other side in, instead tap (light-ish) with a mallet to see if it will go 7) If it does not go, use a screwdriver on one of the nubs on the side that's sticking out to push inward so that it gets into the recess in the chair leg 8) Repeat 6-8 until the cap is in place. In the beginning I could only do 2-3 of these without having to reboil the water to soften the caps a bit. By the end I was able to do 8 between boils.

I bought these for wrought iron furniture that I have had for many years. This year I am finally repainting them and when turning them over I noticed a few of the inserts missing or broken so I ordered these. I kept thinking that over the years the manifacturing probably changed but if anything these seem stronger than the originals. One word of caution: on a chair you will need to buy enough to replace all four legs (even if some are still good) in order to keep your chairs level because these new ones raise the furniture up just a little. And yes you have to use a rubber mallet to get them on but they seem to be a good product and not cheaply made.

I am happy these exist. I needed them so my outdoor furniture doesn’t scratch up my new deck. The fit needs to be tight so they stay in place. That means they’re a bit difficult to bang in with your hammer so that all edges are inside the metal. Some said that soaking them in very hot water softened them up to make it easier. I tried that, but it only helped a little. Eventually I got all 16 in place. Nonetheless, I recommend if you need them. They work great. None have come out. Make sure you order the right size.

Perfect solution!! Didn’t realize I needed to replace my sliders on my wrought iron patio chairs until one scratched the new bricks. Be sure diameter measurement is exact, dip each cap in boiling water, and tap into place w a rubber mallet. Some of them took some maneuvering, but they are great!!

So I've been saving bottle caps to put under the feet of these wrought iron patio chairs when it occurred to me that Amazon probably has a REAL product to do that.. And they do! These gliders come in 1.5" and 1.25" and apparently I need something in between. Tried the smaller size and returned (not even close). According to the package the inside diameter of the feet needs to be 1.5" and these should work. However, they do not want to go in easy, and I tried all the advice people gave (mallet in one side then the other, align very straight and pound in correctly, boil in water to soften first), and I tried a few other methods involving cursing and breaking nails. Now, I'm NOT an un-handy person, I am telling you this is strangely difficult. The pieces are too darn big! IMO they are tapered in the wrong direction; they are flared out from the outer edge and get more narrow at the cap. It would be much better to install if that was opposite. I ended up grinding down the rim of the sliders on a stone lathe so they could get started in the feet. After a couple pounds, if they were getting mangled I then needed to push in the edges with whatever needle-nose pliers, file, or small instrument that would work. Eventually I got them all inserted, and in that time our fencers installed 8 posts. Sometimes things just can't be easy. I will say that except for the few I smashed in against their will (with a frightening litany of complaints) the more properly inserted ones are not going to be falling out of their own accord and the thickness of the plastic ensures many years of use.

This product meets my needs perfectly for replacement sliders on my wrought iron patio furniture. They are extremely durable and while snug inserting they stay in place until worn and ready for replacement. Great product.!!!!!

This product was not available anywhere and it was needed to safely use our vintage wrought iron bistro set. So glad to find them on Amazon, and they work and fit perfectly and does not scratch the flooring.

Exact fit on our metal table and chair set and they work great as the chairs that were missing glides now slide nicely on our deck without damaging the surface, but for what you're getting (little plastic/nylon cups) the price is exorbitant.
