This is a great little watch most men’s blue jeans have a little watch pocket just above the right front pocket fits perfectly in there and clips to your belt loop. The red light truly works because most animals for instance, my dog dock, cannot see the red light. The red light is very bright, but don’t ride it with your finger on the light too much or you will run down the battery. Mine seem to have a hesitation about keeping perfect time the first couple of days, but I don’t know what it was after that. It hasn’t missed a minute. Go ahead and take out the extend extended protection plan. Just make sure you let a professional change the battery for you. That way they can ensure that the rubber gasket is put back into place as this watch is somewhat splash proof from water or rain. Great value happy I found it on Amazon.

Ordered this last year (2012) and it's still going strong, despite being laid on, knocked around, crushed into trees and walls, and dragged down a paved drive (I work a lot outside on the farm) so I can testify to this watch's durability!! The clip is still attached very tightly, and the light still is strong - - the watch keeps excellent time, although I did have to set it forward about 1 minute since I initially set in last year. The crystal is scratched now, but otherwise it's hanging in there. For me, that's pretty amazing. It's not really a CON, but I wish that it had a blue or white LED instead of red (don't really understand the idea of that) but I have to pick at something.

Got this for grandson graduation haven’t given it to him yet, but looking at the watch, it is outstanding superbly crafted it. I am sure he would love it.

I bought this clip watch because Dakota will change the battery. I have bought other perfectly good clip watches that were less expensive, but cannot reattach the back after changing the battery, or the new battery slips out of place while trying to reattach the back. It will be inconvenient to do without the watch while it is being repaired, but will save money in the long run because I do not have to throw out the watches because I cannot fix them. The watch itself, is well made and should last.

This looks great hanging from my purse as I am not a big fan of wrist watches. I love the look, it's keeping good time and looks sturdy like it should last a good long time. I am very happy with this purchase.

This design is used for corporate gifts. My original version from IBM had their logo in the oval area which has Dakota on the one that I am rating. I was glad to find this Dakota version as my experience with my original has been very good. If it lasts as long as my original, it is well worth the price. I decided it was time for a new one when after many years of daily use, the second hand finally fell off my original. So far this new Dakota is working out fine. It keeps good time and is easy to read. With a watch that clips to your side belt loop it is easy to scratch the crystal. Also, the red LED clear plastic bubble lens can break as a result of normal wear and tear over time. If this happens, the LED should continue to operate, but you may need to dress the remaining plastic portion with a file or sand paper should there be any sharp plastic edges on the LED. Concerning the crystal, if you want to keep it from getting scratched, I have found that if you put a screen plastic protector film over it, it will last forever. Use a circle template that matches the exposed diameter of the crystal and draw a circle with a fine permanent marker on the film and cut out the circle with scissors. Try to find a screen protector film that is not too stiff so that it will flex over the slightly convex surface of the crystal. Over time the screen protector will get scratched and dull looking. Just peel and replace with a new one and the watch will look brand new. The plastic film used to cover the front end of cars works well for this. Also, if you want to preserve the watch cover plate on the back of the watch, you can apply screen protector film on that as well. (Note: The watch comes with a larger diameter plastic film cover, but this film does not stick well, so if you want to protect the crystal you will have to make your own as described above.)

I have been using Dakota watches for ten years. The first one I bought, the strap fell off because the pin got bent. I figured it was my fault so I bought this one since it is one piece. That one lasted a while so when it got wore out I bought a new one. The new one just FELL APART on me and I have not been rough with it. It was in great condition aside from scratches on the clip mechanism. Apparently I got lucky with the second watch. I contacted the company and they don't offer any warranty for the actual watch (only internal movement) and said I could pay them to fix the watch. I am not going to pay someone to fix a defective product that they sold me. I will never buy a Dakota watch again! Update 10-25-2024 They sent me a message and offered me a new watch. Your customer service could have looked into my case and offered me a new watch. They didn't. You should have a warranty on your watches falling apart. I have suggested this brand to a lot of people and people at my work have even made jokes imitating me checking the time from my belt loop. For belt loop watch shoppers... if you have a bunch of money and you want a nice belt loop watch get this one. But I don't have a bunch of money to spare. I also don't want a free watch.

Just got this so my rating is an initial impression only......cannot say what to expect in the longer term I like the ired LED that is easy to activate & should help me find things....... but also maintain my night vision. It looks like it will be durable and it will clip to my vest, so I don't have added weight on my arm that will be constantly moving around, using energy. It's a fairly inexpensive piece of gear as well. IMO the watch is a compromise ......I would prefer that it had mutli-functional use.....esp. barometric pressure readout over time ....AND a temp gauge would also be a plus. Without these other features, I'm not particularly "wowed" by the watch.......but I do think it's a solid product that should last a long time.

I bought my first Dakota mini clip watch a few years ago and used it with all my bags as I went out and about. When it finally broke it wasn't easy to find a replacement in the UK, so I was delighted to see Amazon had them back in stock. My ordered mini clip arrived quickly and is just as good as my previous one. They are easy to unclip and the watch face is clear to read. Happy with purchase.

Very nice product.

I was super excited about this clip watch. However it has stopped working. Took it to a jewellers, thinking the battery needed changing. Jewellers say it is a mechanism fault and cannot be repaired. Why did you choose this product over others?: I thought it as a quality well made watch...but I was wrong.
