Woodcarving 120 (C)

The Morakniv Wood Carving Knife 120, constructed from carbon steel, is an excellent high-quality knife for wood carving. Since I found Mora knives on Amazon in 2021, I have purchased over a dozen for bush crafting, wood carving, and kitchen use. They are located in my camper, sling bags, backpacks, and cars. These knives are of very high quality and are affordably priced. This knife is no exception; it remains sharp for an extended period while working with various types of wood. The birch handle is not only attractive but also comfortable for prolonged use. It arrived extremely sharp, so caution is advised, and it features a high-quality logo, made in Sweden, which I appreciate. I take good care of my knives by stropping them several times, depending on the duration of my projects. I primarily use this knife for final polishing work, and it does an outstanding job. I am very satisfied and may consider adding more Mora knives soon, as I find them affordable and competitive with knives that cost twice as much.

This comes extremely sharp but not well seated in the sheath. Be very careful when opening, people have gotten hurt just doing that due to the knife just falling out of the sheath. It will fit snug so I am not sure why it isn’t packaged as such. I whittle and bought this knife for that purpose but to be honest it is so sharp it makes me nervous, I will not use without cut resistant gloves. Outside of my filleting knife, which this reminds me of, this is the sharpest knife I have ever owned.

In love!!!! I received a few carving knives for Xmas. This one is my go to. It's a Sloyd knife. Great for all purpose carving. It takes off decent size chunks of material as well as doing a bit finer work. Blade holds it's sharpness well. Handle fits comfortably in hand. My only negative is the sheath. The knife either "sticks" or falls out. I'm going to make a knife pouch tho, so it's no biggie. Ended up buying my husband one so we can carve together. Great price point. I would recommend this knife as a great intro to carving but also a decent knife for more advanced carvers.

I bought the Mora Companion Knife 7 years ago and did not need to sharpen it for 3 years and was sharp enough to shave myself with safely for years out of the package. I am happy to say this is the same indestructible, dangerously razor-sharp knife as my Mora companion was when I first got it. Very comfortable to hold, good looking and I am able to shave myself effortlessly safely so. Some stropping on a leather strop is all this will need after use to stay sharp for years with regular use. Best Knives in the world and I am not the only one that thinks so..

What a great knife. Came sharp and holds an edge well. Great for removing a lot of material fast. The sheath is okay but could be better. Need to push in hard to hold in place then it’s hard to get back out. Over all a good value for the price.

Very sharp straight from the box! I do have to sharpen more often than I anticipated but still an overall good carving blade

The knife is amazing once you learn the basics. This blade is not fitted for fine detailed work. This works great at removing and shaping your block. It has a nice handle and easy to sharpen blade. It works great for beginners teaching how to sharpen due to its bevel shape. I would recommend getting this after buying a smaller blade to learn the different cut styles. This is a touch too much to work with at first. After you figure out how to use it, it is amazing. Excellent quality, great price, and I will be buying more Mora knives once the model I want is in stock again.

This is a remarkably good knife. There are similar ones that are more expensive, and others that are cheaper, but this is very good at a decent price. Holds a fine edge, comfortable in hand. I have two (one laminated, one carbon) and a 106. The 120 is nicer for carving, with the shorter blade. If you're looking for a Sloyd, this is the one to get. The sheath is nothing to brag about, but it works. I don't see much difference between the laminated and carbon blade. Both are the same at the edge.

Nice carving knife, very sharp

The Morakniv 120 is a staple in woodcarving for a reason. The carbon steel blade arrives incredibly sharp right out of the box, with a clean, even grind that bites into wood effortlessly. It excels at detail carving — crisp cuts, smooth control, and no chatter, even in tighter curves or delicate shaping. The blade length is ideal for both beginners and experienced carvers. It’s short enough for precision but long enough to handle general shaping. The carbon steel holds an edge extremely well, and with regular stropping, it stays razor‑sharp through long carving sessions. It also sharpens easily compared to stainless steel. The handle is classic Morakniv: comfortable, lightweight, and ergonomic. The oiled birch wood grip gives excellent control for push cuts, pull cuts, and fine detail work. It feels natural in the hand and reduces fatigue during extended carving. This knife is perfect for whittling, spoon carving, figure carving, and any project requiring clean, controlled cuts. It’s one of those tools that instantly improves the quality of your work.
