can accessories work on both ends?

Unfortunately, the answer to your question would be No. The accessories will only connect to one end of any one of the rods that are included in this set. Each rod has a male and female end. Each accessory attachment is equipped with a female connector; therefore, they can only be connected to the male end of any rod in the set. Hope that helps.
