is it fine thread or course thread ?

The other two answers are from nitwits.  The T90331 has coarse threading.  That would be 11.5 TPI (threads per inch for those who wonder).  Fine-threaded drains use 16 TPI.

Question 2

Is the hardware included for the overflow cover (goes behind)....new construction?  Or do I have to buy the hardware kit (Moen #142538) separately?

The kit that you reference (Moen #142538) is not for this drain cover. But you would need a tub drain wrench to install it (about $10-$15). Before buying make sure you are getting the correct size  and thread count for your tub.

How do I properly measure the size/threading of my current drain to know if this will fit?

What you want to do is measure, as accurately as possible, the inside diameter of the threads in your drain shoe. You'll need to remove the current drain trim piece in order to accomplish this.  The inside diameter of the first thread on a 1-1/2" is approximately 1.8".  Yes, that's 1.8", which is roughly 1-13/16" -- NOT 1-1/2".  The inside diameter of the 1st thread of a 1-1/4" drain, which is the next standard U.S. size down from 1-1/2" will be approximately 1.6", or about 1-5/8".  The 1-1/2" size should be standard for U. S. bathtub drains.  The 1-1/4" probably is too small to meet code in your local area, but still may exist in older installations.  One inch would be way too small.  If your measurement is not very close to one of these, you have a very non-standard drain shoe fitting, and you probably should consult a plumber.

Question 4

I'm looking for a black drain cover and this is all i can find, but its listed as 'wroght iron'. does anyone know if the color is more black or brown?
