What size are the holes for the screw / what diameter screw should I buy with this?

Hi, the latches comes with screws. The holes in the latches are 3.5 mm about 9/64" The screws have a diameter of 2.4mm about 3/32" Hope that helps. Bill

I have an upright freezer with a door that doesn't close well. I assume this will this work to hold the door shut?

I used mine to hold down tight my smokers lid. It does the job. They are adjustable as far as tension goes.

What is the inside measurement of the triangle exact please

My units measure 11/16" to 3/4."

Will this work in an application where the hook and the latch handle mechanism are perpendicular to each other rather than in the same plane?

Yes and no. It will hold it closed, but if you want it pulled really tight I don't think it will do that. I bought mine for my upright freezer which didn't seal well on the upper corner very well. Works great. I like it that the length is adjustable.
