Pros: Makes ice very quick in two different sizes. Price was good compared to others and I bought refurbished saved even more.If you take the basket out and let it run a few cycles, the ice helps cool the water and it will make ice faster.Cons: small basket, trips the full sensor and stops the machine without any indication so if your not paying attention the ice will sit and melt. Small reservoir for water sits under the ice basket.

Followed all the directions and started it up. Very quiet and makes ice within the specified time, but then the problem begins. The ice has to partially melt to fall off into the tray. This melt off takes another 2 minutes, so the 7 minutes to make ice is really 9 minutes because there is no way to access the ice even though it is done at 7 minutes. The tray then goes up and down, rotating forward and backward multiple times trying to drop the ice out into the area where it is pushed into the basket. The ice is continually stuck behind the metal posts that the ice forms on. Approximately 3 of the 9 cubes will actually fall forward and be pushed into the basket. The machine will try 4 or 5 more times to tip the cubes out, but it just isn't tipping far enough forward for the cubes to fall out. Then, instead of immediately starting the next cycle of creating 9 more cubes it stops. The only way to get more cubes is to turn the machine off and then back on. It is incredibly frustrating - the cubes are beautifully formed but none end up usable as they sit, inaccessible, back in the tray where they've dropped off until melted.The machine has been sitting upright for greater than 24 hours. The ambient temperature is right in the middle of the recommended range, as is the water temperature poured into the reservoir. The machine is sitting on a perfectly level surface with greater than the average ventilation space around it. I've tried making small and large cubes. I've tried each size 3 times, thinking maybe it just needed to get warmed up. It simply looks as if the tray that catches the cubes after they drop off does not tip far enough forward. Did I just get a defective machine? I wanted to love this thing!!! It is not usable at all. Would be better off with an ice cube tray at this point. SO disappointed.

This ice maker is precisely as advertised. It arrived in perfect condition. Set up was easy. We used distilled water. The ice was CLEAR. It becomes a little cloudy when put in the freezer, but becomes clear again when liquid is poured around the ice cubes. The first ice came out in about seven minutes. Since the water recirculates and gets colder and colder, subsequent ice came out even faster and faster. The bin does not hold a lot of ice. And, it is only insulated. It is not refrigerated. So, I transferred the ice to a plastic box and put it in the freezer right away. I found out that if I didn't transfer the ice out of the maker until the bin was filled, the ice was a little wet and when I put it in the freezer, all the cubes stuck together. When I transferred the ice to the freezer pretty soon after it was made, I did not have any problem with the ice sticking together in large clumps. I found the sound level of the machine to be quite low. I expected it to be much louder. Over all, I would say this this ice maker is worth every penny. I'm not sure how they make it for such a small amount of money.

For what it is, it works well - so the 5 stars. This would be great in your personal 'bar' for IMMEDIATE usage but is not really going to work as a IceMaker you can use for even a 12 hour period.First it is not insulated (as it states in the instructions) and will NOT hold the ice (frozen) for ANY length of time.Second, the Ice it creates has a lot of AIR which makes it freeze fast, but the physical quantity of 'frozen water' is not that much. This makes ANY style of this type of ice melt fast.Third, when the water runs out, the unit shuts down. Meaning the bin of Ice will melt faster.Let's say you were to leave it running 'unattended' expecting to have a bin full of ice a couple hours later: What would actually happen is it would make the first "ice" pretty quick and it starts to melt some. Ice would continue to be made and melt slightly until it ran out of water. At that point the Freezer shuts down,it warms up and the ice in the bin melts faster & faster. This thawed water will fall into the WATER RESERVOIR until it all melted and you would find it with no Ice, full of water and saying it needs water -OR- might restart and refreeze the thawed water, over & over again.Also, the ice is really only good straight up; i.e. crushing or chipping would be marginal due to the air content.LAST, I bought it to use in a true (commercial) ice shaver for a quickie snow cone without using every cube in the freezer and not having to wait or keep my freezer full of extra Ice Cubes. The "ICE" this unit creates will NOT work with a "Shaver" due to the AIR CONTENT.

I bought this to use in the RV since running out for bags of ice can be a nuisance. I have got to say, this machine is amazing . It churns out 9 ice cubes about every 10 minutes. And I mean it is 10 minutes to the first batch of 9 cubes from the minute you turn it on. And if quick wasn't enough, it makes hollow cubes that have more surface area than solid ice cubes which means they cool your beverage faster. In addition to fast and good cubes, it is really fun to watch the machine at work. You can observe the whole process from a little tray full of water that lifts up to the freezer rods then the ice cubes falling off the rods and then being swept from the hopper into the ice bucket area by a little paddle. It is truly a masterpiece of mechanical timing and function. I am completely impressed and would highly recommend buying one of these to anyone who is tired of buying bags of ice.

We got our ice maker and it did great for a few months. Unfortunately just 1 day after the 1 year anniversary the ice scooper stopped lifting the ice out into the basket. It still makes ice, but we have to get in and scoop it out after each batch or it will not make ice. Such a bummer as it was great to have this for general use and parties.
