Ready to reap the rewards of recognition? You own a brand. Its name is your name. You need to take ownership of it and earn recognition as an expert in your field. There's no simple shortcut. But now there's a remarkably useful roadmap featuring: An A to Z guide packed with actionable advice for developing your personal brand and accelerating your professional success. 26 practical lessons to help you whether you're an entrepreneur, business leader, aspiring professional, creative, marketer or second careerist Insights from professionals who are reaping the rewards of recognition Review: The Seminal Work on Personal Branding and a Beautifully Heartfelt Effort that Shines Through - I have hesitated to write this review in full only in that of the so many wonderful and actionable insights packed into this fantastic book, Iโm only just beginning a systematic implementation process. But the the book is good and so meaningful that I figured Iโd go ahead and share some thoughts. The first thing thatโs readily apparent about The Road to Recognition is the extent to which the authors have poured their hearts and souls into it. They will be the first to admit that the topic of personal branding is, well, quite personal to them. Each feels that they started late in the game in building their personal brands and thereโs just a tremendous sincerity in their making the case that others shouldnโt make that mistake. I suppose I would describe myself as someone who has always cared about my reputation and for being perceived according to the traits that I hope I possess and that Iโm proud of. But Iโd never given the notion of systematically building a personal brand much thought. I might have even been called a skeptic on the topic. That remained the case as my career progressed โ in an extraordinarily lucky and blessed fashion โ from corporate law to banking to strategic communications. It took about ten pages for me to be fully persuaded of the importance and itโs something that, as someone who has made career changes, I should have been much more cognizant of. I donโt know if I have any more jumps in me, but if so, I plan to be much better positioned and itโll be thanks to the Road to Recognition. The book itself is a beautifully written blueprint and process (literally, from A-Z) on building and optimizing your personal brand. 26 topics are selected for in depth treatment. Without question, the production of outstanding and shareable content is a recurring theme throughout โ as is being a generally decent human being, which I actually think is something well worth acknowledging. In any event, most of the chapters are magnificently written and organized โhow toโ guides in respect of the nuts and bolts of building a personal brand โ content, design, website, Google, LinkedIn, etc. But another special aspect of this book is that it doesnโt shy away from delving into the psychological underpinnings of our own behavior and how it impacts the way weโre perceived. The discussion in the chapter โH is for Helpingโ is a prime example. One can either help out of a genuine generosity โ or in a calculated manner in which the goal is really to help oneself. The irony, as the authors show, is that taking the first approach works infinitely better in terms of benefits redounding back to you. People have tremendous desires to reciprocate and to say thank you for genuine offers of assistance. Related is the chapter โR is for Recognition.โ I love this chapter โ perhaps because it is one of the few that I have performed intuitively over my life โ but it focuses on how having the decency and the appreciation and the gratitude to continually cite and recognize those who have helped make you better turns out to redound quite well in respect of our personal brands. Next, the prescriptions in the book are reasonable and achievable. The authors donโt come at you with the expectation that youโll implement everything at once. Rather, their message really is: โStart. Start now. And do it the right way.โ Finally, the authors practice what they preach. They cite relevant influencers throughout, giving those folks all due credit; and they speak highly in the text of more folks who have been influencers on their own personal lives. And in terms of helping: Iโll end where I began. Iโm not sure Iโve read a book recently that felt so sincere in wanting to help folks. In my eyes anyway, this is a book that will stand the test of time and that I expect and hope is deservedly further elevating the personal brands of each of Barry and Seth. Thanks to you both. Review: Buy this book three times - Yes, I said buy it three times. Once on Kindle, so it's available on any device with your annotations and highlights. Once on paper, because you'll want to flip through, mark it up, and remind yourself of what to try next. And an extra copy, to give to that colleague you want to see succeed. There are a ton of personal branding resources out there. Why did I buy one more? I bought The Road to Recognition because I've been a follower of Barry Feldman's work for years, and he's the real deal. His content marketing savvy is unquestionable, his copy writing ability proven again and again. It's not hype when I can see it working on myself -- the stuff I click on because of how he says it, the stuff I learn because he doesn't just rehash what everyone else is saying. I've been in online marketing myself for over 20 years, and it's not everybody that impresses me with fresh insights. Knowing Barry in a professional capacity, I knew this resource was going to be above and beyond. It did not disappoint. (Sorry, Seth. I don't know you, so I don't feel equipped to sing your praises. But if you're part of the reason this book got written, then thank you, thank you, thank you!) Reasons to add this book to your shelf: - It doesn't waste your time. It's concise. - It doesn't miss anything important. You follow this roadmap, you'll see success. - Because of the above, it's a handy quick reference. Read through this baby once a year and keep yourself on track and moving forward. The only thing that detracts from the execution of the content, if you could really call it detracting, is the A-Z arrangement of the topics. Personally, I'd group things so that related items are together. But it's a good thing they didn't consult me, because using the alphabet for an "A to Z" approach is super catchy, and shares really well on social media. Besides, books are more fun when you can highlight them, annotate the margins to refer to other sections, and put sticky flags in the corners. Oh, I should mention one other thing: This book covers "everything you need to know" to succeed, but it's not designed to give you step by step instructions for each item. Trust me, this is a good thing. The latest and greatest how-to on the tactics in this book are to be found online, and that's where you should go for that hands-on, step-by-step detail. This book is your golden guide to what's vital for success and why.

Practical tips to help you promote your personal brand online
There is no question that in today's world you need to differentiate yourself online for professional career success and as a result, over the years there have been a multitude of books around the topic of personal branding that have been published. Today there are even courses being offered by digital marketers for thousands of dollars to help people promote their personal brand online. Frankly, I would refrain from investing in those programmes and instead purchase The Road to Recognition: The A-to-Z Guide to Personal Branding for Accelerating Your Professional Success in The Age of Digital Media . This book provides you with ideas that you can implement yourself to help you become more visible online. Note that the book does not provide a route map that you will follow step by step. The chapters are structured around an A-Z of topics. So if you are the kind of person who likes to immerse themselves in a topic and are pressured for time, reading and implementing ideas from specific chapters of the book will be ideal for you. You will find online visibility tips related to blogging, getting the most out of using LinkedIn, using keywords, podcasting and using online video to name just some of the topics covered. As someone who has spoken and taught personal branding to students, entrepreneurs and business leaders for more than 10 years I would recommend that you read this book in conjunction with Career Distinction: Stand Out by Building Your Brand by William Arruda (one of the first authorities on the topic of personal branding) and Kirsten Dixson. While "Career Distinction" was published ten years ago, the methodology for unearthing your personal brand presented in the book is a great primer and will provide you with a solid foundation from where you can then use the ideas and tactics shared in "The Road to Recognition" to help you become more visible online. Here are some of the people I think will get the most from reading "The Road to Recognition": - you are an entrepreneur looking to present yourself as a credible leader for your new business - you are a consultant or coach who wants to be found online ahead of your competition - you are a graduate about to embark on your journey into the workforce. But remember that purchasing the book is just the first step. It then requires diligence and commitment to turn the ideas from the pages of the book int action and then results. But when you do so, you will find that you will be on the road to recognition as an authority in your field of expertise.

Your personal brand is formingโwith or without youโso why not make it intentional?
Each person is a brand. Yes, you are. It turns out, your personal brand is forming each dayโwith or without youโso, why not make it intentional? In The Road to Recognition, Barry Feldman and Seth Price whisk you away on a little road trip, offering you a complete guide to help you carve out your personal brand as you move through both life and career. By presenting your personal brand intentionally, you gain traction in building brand YOU, all while establishing your reputation and value. I agree with these guys in the premise that you build a brand by your actions. Brand building for me came easily by simply doing awesome work, delighting clients, and providing reliable services. Here's their take, "The core of your personal brand is the person you are, the things you believe in, and the gifts you aim to share." With the internet of things and the significance of social media, there's now a whole new and immensely valuable dimension to your business or personal profile. These channels are continually growing and are now expected to be utilized in building any brand or business. Don't worry, Barry and Seth have you covered. Yep, even if you think you know it all! Because there's definitely more, and they fill you in from A to Z in this H2H (human-to-human) explanationโeach chapter with actions and steps for you to try. This read can't hurt, but I bet it can help. It's smart and readable.

This is the Book We've All Been Waiting For!
I am so happy with this book!! Having seen Seth Price Keynote and impart wisdom and knowledge to many different crowds of Realtors who hung on his every word, I had eagerly awaited the release of Seth & Barry's book. When the book finally arrived in my hands, I was so excited to dive in and get started. I studied graphic design in high school and college and have a strong appreciation for eye-pleasing design, beautifully laid-out pages and excellent grammar, so what struck me was the beauty of this book. It's a joy to read such eye-pleasing pages that were carefully and thoughtfully laid out with precision and flair. The authors practice what they preach in that they involved different industry leaders and quoted them all throughout this book. I teach Realtors for a living and I found myself nodding in agreement as I read each page of "The Road to Recognition." While I can't take any credit for the book, it's filled with the type of content I would deliver if I were to write such a book. It echoes the very principles I teach to audiences and I will certainly be reading excerpts from this book (especially the section on video) to my class attendees. This is a book that every small business owner should purchase and learn from - it's something that every Realtor needs to read! I was so impressed with the content, I purchased a copy for my entire sales team and my husband purchased about 50 for his friends and colleagues. It's an easy and enjoyable read and anyone who buys it will be highlighting instructional, inspiring passages and rereading it over again.

Detailed
This kindlebook that is The Road to Recognition; The A-Z Guide To Personal Branding For Accelerating Your Professional Success in the Age of Digital Media by Seth Price and Barry Feldman features helpful information on why personal branding can be beneficial through the sharing of other branding success stories. At a minimum, I have seen firsthand in my own life why this is important as I sometimes noticed online commenters who share my first name on some of the same websites I use sometimes much more aggressive than me andor completely different from how I think even if I am interested in a similar topic. Yes, I understand that sometimes others who share your first name online and who look andor write about similar stuff can also be of a positive benefit yet this is also why I am glad to have come across this kindlebook for increased ways to help me understand and use how to differentiate myself in both a positive way and of benefit to also others around me andor who interact with me. Areas involving blogging, google, putting goodwill to work, thinking of what you can offer with examples discussed through volunteering mentoring andor giving, joining communities where ideas are encouraged, and more.

If you're ready to take action to build your personal brand, this book is for you.
It's easy to find books that motivate you to build a personal brand. It's rare to find ones that show you how, with actionable advice. This book goes beyond simply inspiring you and instead reads more like an instruction manual. The "A to Z" format of the chapters makes it very easy to jump around from topic to topic based on what mediums (Blog, LinkedIn, Video, Podcasting, etc.) and tactics are most inspiring to you. I loved that I didnโt need to spend time reading read cover-to-cover to find a few ideas that I could take action on immediately. For that reason, I see it as a handy reference I'll return to over and over again as I build my personal brand. This book is for you if you: โข Value independence and want the freedom of working for yourself one day. You need to start building your personal brand in advance so you have a good personal reputation to help you launch your business. โข Value having your pick of job offers. By building a positive personal brand that showcases your strengths, current and potential employers will have a clear understanding of your value, which gives you more freedom and flexibility in who you work for. So if you are ready to take action building your personal brand to make yourself more marketable (as an entrepreneur or as an employee), this book is for you.

The Road to Recognition: Your personal branding muse
I love this book! A must read full of REAL how tos and ideas on how to develop your brand. Seth Price and Barry Feldman have created an easy to read and understand book about branding in today's complex social sharing and digital world. There is so much depth of content. How do I know? Because I met Seth Price about 5 years ago when I knew zilch about building brand in this new social world. After conscientiously listening and learning from the content Seth produced and curated IRL, I can honestly say, that I have learned so much from his work. NOW, you have that opportunity to "cut the line" and learn it all a whole lot quicker than I could, with his new co-authored book "The Road to Recognition". TRTR is a valuable guide for beginners to grasp and execute on -- to the seasoned branding and marketing pros. I highly recommend it! Congrats to Seth and Barry on this great achievement. I am proud to call you teacher, colleague and friend.

A truly actionable resource that kits you out for finding your road to recognition
Ironically, the key thrust felt through this book is Z for Zeal and it's the last letter of the alphabet - which for this book being organised at A to Z, found it's logical place at the back of the book. But no harm done, as it hits home the truth of all that is recommended in this book - that without the energy and passion to go for it, it will be a much harder and uneventful road. I constantly found myself reaching for a pen to write down tips and soon began to realise there are too many to write down! This has to be one of the most practical, useful and actionable resources on the market today. I will most definitely be turning its pages to follow the road to recognition in my own business. Highly recommend

Great read with quick, with digestible takeaways
Great read with quick, with digestible takeaways. The hardest thing with books is being able to take away learning that you can almost instantly apply; not this one, as it's ready made for those who want to be able to find solutions fast. A fantastic book that's easy on the eye and even easier to engage with.

Good but not exceptional
Good advices, nice graphic and design, easy to read. It deals with the topic in a general way to me. If you are new to the subject is fine. Iif you are looking for something more advanced and technical, it is not what you are looking for.
