One of the best fixative sprays you can buy and sets within minutes, however a two or three coatings would suffice for full protection. The only problem is that the chemicals do smell, so best done outside.

It does the job. Great for being in control of light removable media. I use it for mixed media paintings on canvas. Start with water-colour and soft pastels, spray with the fixative, work on it, removing unwanted spots with a water wet rug and etc, then go over with acrylic and other water-based media, and finally using oil paints on top.

A quality product from this famous name and a good price for such. It seats well and leaves, a good finish for further working upon if desired. If your picture matters to you this beats the heck out of using hair spray!

I’ve been using this for about 3 weeks on a project to get me back into sketching and it’s brilliant. The intended use I had for it was for a sketchbook that I was going daily sketches in, I was having trouble with the pencil smudging and it was compromising my work, i love Windsor and Newton products anyway and thought I would give this a try. My first impression was great and after 3 weeks of use I will be ordering more when this one runs out. My advice would be to follow the instructions on the can, shake well, hold 30 cm away from the page and spray in a back and forward motion, when done hold the can upside down and spray for a couple of seconds. This part is vital as it keeps the nozzle clear and prevents any build up on the inside, will make the product work as if it’s your first use. 10/10 for making my work smudge proof.
