Question 1

What is the difference between a challenger 20 amp circuit breaker left clip and a right clip?

Accepted Answer

Every breaker panel has an A side and a B side. That is how you get 120volts for outlets from a panel that has 240volts. Half the CBs are A and the other half are B. You also have 240 breakers that span both A and B sides.
So, depending on which position in the panel, you need an A or a B breaker for the Challenger panels. You can count down from the top of the panel to determine which you need or pull the breaker that is defective.
If you are adding a new one, you have to count to know A or B. Start at the top with A and count down. A, B, A, B, etc. Count a 240 breaker as both. Amperage doesn't matter, just if it is a 120 breaker (single) or a 240 breaker (double handle).

Question 2

Does this fit a ge box? the original breakers are thql, i just need thinner breakers to add a circuit.

Accepted Answer

This breaker is not listed for use in a GE panel with those breaker types. GE does make a very similar Type THQP breaker that may be compatible with your panel. There should be a label on the panel that lists the breaker types it will accept.

Question 3

Is this like crouse hinds?

Accepted Answer

Yes Crouse Hinds did manufacture this style of breaker before, their part number for it was MH120L.

Question 4

I this breaker a correct replacement for challenger single pole e16248?

Accepted Answer

The E16248 is not a specific identifier of the breaker so I can't say for sure just off that. The breaker label should list Type A if they are the same style breaker. The Challenger Type A is also unique with the buss clip on the side of the breaker so your breaker will look almost identical to this one, they are hard to mistake for other types just going off looks.
