Motion (Matter) – Smart indoor and outdoor motion sensor with light sensor, smart control of devices, Thread, works with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, requires Thread Border Router

Very easy to integrate into Apple Home. Just be sure to temporarily disable your 5GHz Wi-Fi during setup for a smoother (not completely pain free!) pairing process. I use it to automate lights based on presence detection, and it works reliably. While Apple Home offers straightforward automation, the Eve app unlocks deeper customisation. I recommend setting it up in Apple Home first for basic use, then diving into the Eve app if you want more advanced control and fine-tuning.

This was purchased to cover our driveway and switch on the lights as you approach the house as it was one of the few outside rated motion sensors. It regularly looses connection to the equally expensive and unreliable apple homepod which, unfortunately is necessary as a thread border router that exposes the device to the rest of my smart home ecosystem. The sensor and homepod are separated by a wall, but less than 1 metre from each other. This has resulted in multiple resets of both the sensor and homepod and its become so frustrating the frequency of this necessary action to gain to control. It now completely refuses to connect to the Amazon Echo, despite having done so previously via the sharing code generated by the homepod. Given the Apple Home app and integration is perhaps the worst half hearted attempt at a smart home ecosystem possible and when integrated with the awful homepod means connecting the eve motion sensor to it is pointless. I have typically relied on Home Assistant and Alexa to run automations, and whilst I have the eve sensor connected to home assistant it seems to rely on the stupid homepod and often goes offline. I think it's more to do with the Matter/Thread integration which is the problem, but the reliance on the Homepod is very much the weakest link here so unfortunately because of this it makes the device unusable. There are must better and considerably cheaper sensors available so don't buy the expensive one thinking you are going to get a better product because in this instance you don't

After returning an Aqara sensor which would not work with HomeKit this one has worked straight away. Simple tweak has got it working at night only and turns on and off with presence detection. I am very pleased. It would be nice to have some better mounting options but it’s a minor gripe.

Much more powerful when used in HomeKit automations than the competition. These are the ones to get if you’re invested in an Apple Home setup.

I have been using this for a week so far. it has been performing well , please note that you will get the read write error if your eve sensor is far away from your router or other matter devices .Good: the motion sensor is instantaneous, no lag at allcould be better: the lumens sensor is a bit slow, when you use the eve app to see real time brightness changes it takes about 10 seconds to change value after the light is switched offI like it. Would have liked it even more if it was around 20 pounds

If it wasn't that it's the only sensor supporting Matter without hubs and adapters, I'd give 2 stars for its low quality/price ratio.Just like any other motion sensor that doesn't use radar, it's plagued by false negatives, and being limited by Matter on Android/google-assistant you can't customise anything. I use it to turn on/off my garage lights through Google Assistant Routines, and even though I'm in the garage and keep moving in front of the sensor, the sensor goes routinely into the UNOCCUPIED state, triggering a timer that turns the light off. I'm sure the situation is better for iPhone users, because Eve has an app for them, but on Android there's no app.

I’m a wheelchair user and I am in the process of automating my new home using my Alexa devices to make life a bit easier for me. One of the things I want is for my hallway lights to come on automatically when motion is sensed. I chose this product because it claimed to work with the 4th Generation Echo using a thread platform which the Echo has. This was ideal for me as it meant I wouldn’t require a separate hub as many smart devices do, so I felt that it was worth the extra expense based on this.Sadly whilst my Echo could detect the sensor it couldn’t connect to it, despite numerous attempts. I tried doing it via the EVE app and without, with all my other Alexa devices switched off and every other thing I could think off and it still wouldn’t connect. I am therefore going to have to return for a refund and go down the route of a sensor with its own hub. What this does have doing for it, is that it’s nice and lightweight and fits in the palm of your hand. It wouldn’t look too out of place in most homes. The battery panel at the back is easy to open for anyone who has arthritic hands and it is very easy to reset using a paper clip or a SIM card tray pin that you get with a mobile phone. There is a slot on the back that allows it to be hung on a wall from a nail but it is light enough that you could use a small command strip.

Very reliable connection and instant interactions with Apple HomeKit. Activates lights instantly. Best HomeKit motion sensor

I bought this mostly to play with Matter over Thread. Paired it with Google Home and from there imported it into Home Assistant. I have a Google Nest screen acting as a Thread Border Router. It works very well in both Google Home and Home Assistant. It is obviously much more responsive in Home Assistant since all all the communications stay within the house. The illuminance sensor seems to "bottom out" at 1 lux before the room is in full darkness and never goes below 1, even in complete darkness. This slightly limits the options for automations that involve turning on lights when the room is dark.I dinged it one star for the lack of thought given to mounting options. All there is is a keyhole-shaped cutout for a screw head (and even that it pretty shallow and small, so you will need exactly the right screw). I had to improvise my own mount with a piece of wood. Other than that, I have no complaints.
