Branch Ergonomic Chair, Versatile Desk Chair with Adjustable Lumbar Support

This is my first ergonomic chair I’ve owned for home use. And I have never had a chair that goes low enough to fit me until now! I did a lot of research and decided on this because of the quality, adjustment features and price range. I’m 5’0 so I’m really short but this chair sits low enough for me. I keep it at the lowest setting. Looks great with my Flexispot E7 desk, I got the beige/tan chair. I’m used to sitting in Herman Miller chairs at work but they are always too big and don’t truly fit my small frame. This is super comfortable and the best fit I’ve ever experienced. I love the adjustable seat (seat slides out a few inches) so I can sit cross cross applesauce if I want too and still have enough room everywhere. And the adjustable arm rests were a must have for me. The armrests are not squishy, pretty firm. I decided to buy padded armrest covers but now that I have it I’m not sure it’s completely necessary to add on. The armrests still fit under my desk. I also like that I can lean and tilt back in the chair which I was never able to do in bigger chairs because they were too big. And I like that you can lock the position. The backrest isn’t too high for me either. The adjustable lumbar support is nice but it’s not aggressive at all. It’s just enough support for what I need. The wheels surprised me because they roll easily and smoothly with minimal effort on 2 layers of carpet! I’ve had other chairs that were problematic on carpet and even on a plastic chair mat. I even had a chair without wheels because of that; but I still missed being able to roll even if it was only a few inches here and there. I don’t have to worry about that anymore! I’m happy with the amount of cushion on the seat, very comfortable. The breathable mesh back is nice and the mesh is strong. The chair was packed well in a large box but I was able to get the box upstairs on my own. It was easy to build on my own and only took a few minutes. I suggest reading the instructions before watching the YouTube video because the video leaves out a few important details. It was such a challenge to find a chair that fits petite people as most chairs are designed for taller people. And I read countless reviews and most people don’t mention their height or there were very few reviews where the person was 5’3 or under. I think this chair would be great even for people much taller since I am happy with the lowest, smallest settings of the chair. Overall, the chair still feels spacious but not overly so. This chair is well made and high quality. I can see it lasting many years and it comes with a warranty!

At the early stages of the pandemic, I purchased a work from home office chair like just about everyone else. I bought a functional-but-not-too-expensive chair. I then ended up purchasing better wheels and a detachable lumbar support for that one. Despite the add-ons, it just was not comfortable for an 8-10 hour day. I have chronic back issues so I'm a little extra sensitive to these things. I'm also cheap so I sucked it up and kept using that chair for about 2 years until I finally decided I needed an upgrade. I had/have a Steelcase chair at work and that one was always comfortable so that was my initial thought. That thought was quickly extinguished after seeing the price of those chairs. I mean, it's cheaper then physical therapy, surgery, etc but c'mon. I just can't justify paying over 1 grand for a chair. This Branch chair was the most reasonable value and pretty close to the top of what I was willing to pay. It also got good reviews from respected publications, which it's hard to find a legit review thru all of the propaganda lists out there. I wasn't absolutely sure it would be an upgrade but I have been pleasantly surprised. Very easy to assemble. The instructions are crystal clear and there are online videos on the Branch website to walk you thru it. They clearly put a lot of effort into making this as easy to assemble as possible. To be honest, that wasn't overly important to me but it was a bonus. Worth noting, I purchased another set of the Lifelong rubber caster wheels because they are just awesome. I immediately installed those rather then the included wheels as I didn't want to mess with trying to get the original casters out after being installed. As for fit and function, it's very good. Not as good as my in-office chair that costs 3-4x more but it's just as good where it counts most. There is adjustability in the height, lean, thigh support, arms, lumbar, etc. The lumbar support is just OK. It does serve the purpose and I've been able to ditch my separate lumbar support cushion. It's not life changing but again, functions as needed. The thigh support, height and arms all appropriate for me -- I'm 6ft and a biscuit over 200 so judge accordingly. Based on adjustability range, I would imagine it would work for a pretty wide range of body types, maybe up to 6'4" and even 300lbs. Definitely would work for shorter/lighter folks. I've had this chair for a couple of months now and no complaints or regrets. It feels like it will last many years. Overall, quite happy with the purchase and would do it again. It's the right chair at a reasonable price point for me.

I looked at a lot of different ergonomic office chairs, hoping to find a nice balance between price, comfort, durability, and style. It's tough to do staying under the $400 range. I decided on this Branch Ergonomic chair based on reviews and its style. Having lived with it for a month, here are my thoughts: Assembly was remarkably simple. And the build quality seems good, except for the armrests as noted below. It looks great in my opinion. If you like how it looks in pictures, it looks the same in real life. I have the pebble with white frame. I think it's more stylish than the other sub-$500 ergonomic chairs. I find that it is comfortable, especially the seat (I'm coming from a Knoll Life chair with a thin foam seat). But the chair is not very adjustable. The lumbar support, that I felt would be important, slides up and down but does not adjust in or out to increase/decrease pressure. So depending on your body it may not do much at all. It also does not adapt to reclining so even if it applies some support when upright I find it disappears when I recline at all. So for me I find that the lumbar feature of this chair doesn't accomplish much at all. That defeats a lot of the 'ergonomic' aspects of the chair and makes me question whether I should have chosen a different chair. I think more advanced chairs do a lot more to adapt to your body as you recline in the chair; I find that this chair doesn't do much of that at all. The levers to adjust chair height and recline lock are lower than I'd like - you can't use them without leaning out of a normal seating position so you have to make those adjustments then return to normal position to evaluate, rinse and repeat. The recline tension knob is even harder to reach, but it seems like once you get that dialed in you don't have to mess with it very often. One compromise I made in selecting this chair is not getting 4D (or even 3D) armrest adjustment. I do wish it had that. And even in the planes that they do adjust, they armrests do not move all the way into the position I would like (I wish they could slide further back, or even more inward). Also, as others have noted, the armrests do not have a lock in the forward/backward adjustment. This is a problem, as I find that I frequently will put my weight on the armrests (to change my position in the chair, for example) and the armrest will rapidly slide forward under that force. That sucks. Also, the armrest supports are plastic and if you put weight on them they flex. For me that's a minor issue. The backrest alternates between two meshes (in my color selection it's a tight-woven light grey and a more open mesh dark grey). The tight-woven (light grey) fabric is smooth and soft. The open mesh (dark grey) material is suprisingly rough and catches a little bit on my clothing. Really surprised to find that Branch used a mesh that feels noticeably hard on your skin even through your shirt. Maybe other color fabric choices are different, if so I'd recommend one of those because this backrest feels a little annoying when it shouldn't feel like anything at all. I am someone who desperately needs a headrest and while Branch does offer one for this chair it wasn't an option when I purchased the chair from Amazon so I wasn't able to get one. That would make a big difference in my comfort. I'd have preferred blade wheels to the rather cheap plastic casters that come with this chair. My previous chair (Knoll) was quite old and was causing me pain. I can definitely say this Branch chair is significantly more comfortable. There is some disappointment in the lack of (for me) lumbar support and the rough mesh on the backrest, and I do wish the armrests were more adjustable. But for a relatively low-priced ergonomic chair that really does look good it's a pretty good deal even if it isn't the ultimate ergonomic chair. Now, if I can just get a headrest for it.

I did a ridiculous amount of research on desk chairs. Reading and watching reviews and "best" lists; reading and watching critiques of those same reviews and best lists, etc., etc. I was undecided on options ranging from $100 - $1,500 given the inconsistency of opinion. I did a non-scientific "gestalt" gut-check and concluded that the Branch Ergonomic "felt" like it had the best substantive impressions on the factors that mattered most to me: quality of materials and comfort. The number and range of adjustments was not important to me, as long as I could fix a setting that was comfortable. So, I ordered the chair and hoped for the best (the free 30-day returns made it a low risk, but the idea of disassembling and repacking the components still encouraged careful selection!). I was very impressed with the quality, weight, and finish of all the components. The assembly process was straightforward and the instructions were clear and helpful. (As an aside, they are intentionally humorously written by a fluent English speaker--another review noting the "For Use By One Person!" conveyed to me the sometimes unfortunate clumsy translation on some instructions, but that was not at all the case.) The trickiest part is attaching the seatback to the seat mechanism--it must be done upside down with the seatback toward the floor. A helper would make it easy, but for one person finding a support for both components at the appropriate height took some searching around the house (a bed turned out to be the right height). In all, it was about a 30 minute project, being careful. Once assembled, the chair is excellent. The seat is nicely cushioned, but not too soft. The back is supportive and breathes well. Although it is personal preference, the blue color is very nice (and was well represented on the site. The chair feels stable and sturdy. It is much better than the standard workstation chairs at my office (which I am sure were much more expensive!). My only slight disappointment is that the arms slide forward and backward quite easily--I unintentionally extend them when moving about forward and backward in the chair. Overall, I think this is an excellent chair and a super value!

I had a cheaper desk chair before, and this is a really great upgrade. It was easy to put together and feels really comfortable. I needed something I could sit at for longer periods while working, and that meant getting an 8-hour chair, which this is. 8 hour chairs don't necessarily make you go "ahhh" when you first sit in them, but they keep you from going "ouch" after sitting in them a long time. It has a lot of adjustment points, although a couple like seat tilt that I'd like to have but don't. I could have spent more to get the model that has that, though, but I'm happy with what I got. I'll probably pick up the optional headrest later. There were some reviews complaining about plastic parts. Don't listen to them. All of the structurally critical parts are metal that's covered in plastic to make everything look consistent. It makes a sleek look. I have hard floors, and the wheels it comes with are fine without any kind of mat. They're high quality wheels, but I swapped mine out a few weeks later for rollerblade wheels anyway. It's just a preference, not a problem with the standard ones.

Out of the box, the chair looked promising. Material appeared to be nice and assembly was relatively painless, but that’s about all I have positive to say. It didn’t take long before I noticed the galore of creaks and noises that were emanating from the arms and back. I double and triple checked the hardware and everything was on nice and tight. The sound was undoubtedly plastic like, and since the majority of this chair is made of a composite type material, I knew there was no fix for that. Nevertheless I sat on it for a little while, figured I’d still give it an honest go, but not even 15min in, it was clear this was not a comfortable chair, and definitely not worth what I paid for it. I’ve had office chairs costing a quarter the price that were more comfortable and that made zero noise. Hard pass on this if you’re looking for comfort and quality.

I was Impressed with the quality of the chair, very comfortable and just Nice. However, one of the bolts for the arms came with no thread on the bolt. Luckily I have a tap and die set so I was able to correct but Quality Control needs to check into that. taking off 2 stars because most people would have to send this back and wait for a new onee!

I have two branch chairs and both are great. I got this one on prime days and it was a good price. So much better than a cheap chair. This has good lumbar support and the seat is very comfortable. I have the grey and it is a nice neutral color. The back design is modern. Very easy to assemble. All you need to put it together is included.

The chair was easy to assemble, is comfortable, and has a durable feel to the build. There's a number of ways to adjust the ergonomics to suit you. I'm glad I was able to assemble it without the arms as I find it makes me sit with better posture. My only complaint is that when I unpacked the parts from the single box, the arms were contained in another box which was damaged and they had scuff marks on them (see attached photo). Not great when you're spending this much money on a new chair. Overall happy with the purchase and hope it lasts a long while.

This is a $250 CAD chair at most. Can't believe Wired rated it so high. Every part it is as cheap as possible. Doesn't even come with a headrest. Instant return

Al armar e instalar los descansabrazos, estos tiene un “juego” de movimiento que no debería existir y amenaza con crecer con el uso constante. Me decepcionó eso, aunque podría omitirse pero estás comprando una silla que no es la más barata… Esperemos que no sea así. 🙄

El soporte lumbar es horrible. Te va a dañar la espalda antes que darte comodidad.
