a great pasta pot (also useful for other things too)
this is the perfect pasta pot, especially when you need to cook for more than 4. the attachable strainer is also a big plus, especially when the sink is already full, or my colander hasn't been washed yet. tramontina makes good stuff.

Good quality, durable, reasonable price
Specifically wanted to get this brand becasue I have another stock pot I LOVE. This isn't an exact match to what I have but it is extremly close and the same brand. I would say this is a good buy. Size, quality, weight, design....everything as described.

throw away your pasta insert!
I love, love, love the design of this pot. No more pasta insert that reduces the pot capacity by about 50%. And yet the integrated strainer won't fall off (if inserted correctly) which makes it just as easy to drain as the pasta insert. I can fit so much more in it than a pot with conventional pasta insert. Performance? Well I sure don't care much about water spots, and "made in China" is par for the course. Believe me, if a product is truly made in the US, the product description will shout it out. Yes, the instructions say not to use high heat. All these pots say that, don't they? If you're wanting a pot for deep frying, or to put on your grill (?!?), I guess you need to look elsewhere. I'm new to induction cooking (and new to this pot), but noticed that it seems to give you either steam or rolling boil -- no real simmer. Is that because of my cheapy portable induction cooktop or because the pot is poorly made? Dunno. This is by no means a high-end product so I'm satisfied with its performance. It's the integrated strainer design that has attracted me to it. On the other hand, I've only had this pot for a couple of days, so I may change my mind down the road. My only criticism so far is that I'd prefer brushed stainless steel, which doesn't show scratches and such (water spots) nearly as much as this super shiny surface. I am not in need of a mirror while I'm cooking. High-end cookware designers, please take note of this pot's features and see if you can come up with something equally as useful!

Holding Up Well, Heats Evenly, The Strainer is So Easy to Use and Clean
It's perfect! It's non stick when used properly. The strainer is soooo easy to use and clean. Not have another bulky strainer to clean is such a benefit. It's a good weight and heats evenly. The handles are solid and secure, and balance well when picking up the pot while full. The lid is sturdy, no rattles or anything. This is clearly a quality pot so I would purchase this line from this brand again.

Survived my mother-in-law (& a grease fire)
A workhorse in my kitchen for my family of 6! I bought this pot a couple of years ago looking for something large enough to withstand the meals I prepare for my family and our large appetites. This pot is used nearly every day, and it is so easy for me as a busy mom to just chuck it into the dishwasher before bed and pull it out in the morning looking spotless. I'll be honest, I forgot to write a review for this, until tragedy struck my pot (& kitchen) My mother-in-law came over to cook us all a meal as I'm in the throes of postpartum. To my dismay she nearly burned the kitchen down! This pot held a fire nearly 3 times its height, and after everything was put out it barely looked like it went through anything at all?! I've never witnessed a kitchen fire before but I am positive my non-stick pots would have been a weird melted burnt mess but this pot looked great. Not suggesting anyone try and set their kitchen on fire, but this pot survived a grease fire and my mother in law. It's the hardest working tool in my kitchen!

Very sturdy
The capacity of the pot is very good. The biggest problem is when it's filled with even half a pot of water it's very heavy. When I make pasta in it, I have to have my husband lift it over to the sink and drain it because I can't lift it. Even empty, it heavy. It will probably last forever. I do like the strainer top, because it has a large opening to add ingredients when it's locked on. The top locks very well. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it's very heavy and not easy to handle, especially if you have wrist or hand problems.
