Smaller than expected
Based on the pictures I thought these were longer than they are. They are tablespoon size. I will know better next time. Almost all of my knives and hand chisels are Beavercraft so I wholeheartedly support their brand and I like being able to support Ukraine as well.

Great
Made great spoons so far, I appreciate the varieties in both color and hardness. Made the process much faster having a form rather than starting from scratch, so able to whip out spoons much faster. Functional, good value. We love BeaverCraft kits.

Good for any skill level.
Purchased this set for my first carving project. The wood was soft enough for me to carve as a beginner. I would recommend these to any skill level. I ordered another brand of spoon blanks similar to these because they had a pack of 12. I was using them to teach a group of 20 Royal Rangers the carving merit. I ordered 2 - 12 packs of spoon blanks. The blanks were hard to carve and frustrated many of the beginner carvers. I would recommend the Beavercraft brand.

A nice spoon blank kit.
Nice consistent grain blanks with no visible knots or imperfections. These are large enough to make a tea spoon size, soup spoon. If you are looking for a larger spoon, like a table spoon, look elsewhere. A simple BeaverCraft spoon carving kit is all you need to enjoy making a spoon.

Exactly what do you expect Wooden spoons that you can carve

Found them quite hard to carve for a first project they are small spoons and the wood is pretty dry. Would maybe be worth it if they were a bit cheaper.

This review is for the I really like this little kit for beginners. It’s not as intimidating as blocks of wood, more it gives you a variety of wood types to try out, while giving you a specific, simple and functional task, that still has a lot of leeway for design and artistry. It really is a great little set. Also, I had heard of BeaverCraft, they have a good reputation as a company for the quality of their goods, so that’s another bonus, this isnt’ just some randome kit from a generic online seller, this is a company that’s put a lot of work into building their name and offering good products. The pieces are all lovley and unique, and you can find endless tips and instructional videos online for knives and how to guides. I’ve only tried the the elm so far, the gorgeous walnut will be my last as I’m hoping it’ll be my best. The only downside to the kit, is that in order to have an easy job of the ‘bowl’ cuves, you really should have a special curved blade. So a kit of this type is easiest if you have at least two blades, a some straight, and a curved, which adds to the cost of picking up the hobby . that being Said, the same company makes some nice kits for that as well. I would buy again, really happy with the kit.

My husband has always wanted to whittle things out of wood. One year I bought him a book about whittling wood, spoons, tiny figures. He enjoyed it on his downtime and did make a few things, including a knife which we used to clean poop out of our cloth diapers for our kids. This set contains Elm, alder, walnut and maple spoons forms. Each spoon has nicely handwritten names of which one is which wood. I am going to give these to my husband for Christmas, as of right now, I can’t really say how well they worked out as spoons. But I can say that the wood seems to be good quality and already has that basic shape for you to start with. We visit an old museum farm that shows people how to make wooden spoons, so we do have a pretty good idea of how to make them look really nice. the brand Beaver craft has never let us down in the past as that was where we got the first whittling wood, a few years back. If you wanted to try your hand at a new skill, get yourself some wood carving utensils, and pick up the set. I’m sure anyone would like to have a nice wooden spoon for Christmas. I know I would, maybe next year I’ll have a whole set. I will note that the only box these were sent in was the one holding the spoons together. When it got to my house, the bottom of the box was pretty busted open as there is no tape or anything holding it together. If the company sees this, it would be nice to have some form of tape, even if it is paper tape just to hold the bottom of the box shut while it’s being sent out to people. Because my spoons did eventually fall out of the bottom when my daughter picked it off our deck.
