Clinical Laboratory Science Review: A Bottom Line Approach

As a former MLS student, I have to say this book is awesome! I have problems flat out memorizing facts and I take advantage of little memory tricks and mnemonics when I can. Let me say, this book was perfect for me. It has little stories and rhymes, pictures and songs to help remember things like TSI slant reactions, warm/cold antibodies for blood bank, hypothyroidism vs hyperthyroidism, etc. Now, I must say that the book in a whole is an outline over all the material and shouldn't be used as the only book you should study from (I used mine in conjunction with my class notes, textbooks etc.). Plus, I found that there were subjects missing from the book, like the different vitamins and quality control aspects. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book. As a microbiology tech at a medium sized hospital, I recommend this book to every MLS student that comes through on their clinical rotation. I actually let them borrow my copy, and every one of them has come back and said that the book has helped them study for the BOC. I keep mine around just in case one day I need it again..... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! DON'T THINK ABOUT IT ANYMORE. JUST BUY THE BOOK!!!

I used this and the BOC book of questions to study for the ASCP certification exam and passed with no problem. This book breaks concepts down and makes them easier to understand. It cuts out the crap you don't need to know and uses rhymes and pictures to help remember. A must for the exam.

I bought this book in late December and used it to review with throughout January. I took my ASCP MLT exam yesterday and passed. This book is awesome at giving you the meat and potatoes of all the subjects. It also does a great job of giving you charts to help you memorize and recall the things that differentiate microbes, parasites, or anemia types and key lab findings from one another. It has stories and mnemonics that help you recall info, too! Great book and it was very helpful for my ascp exam! The BOC book repeats questions and has incorrect answers in the back of the book. LabCE likes to repeat questions, sometimes even during the exam you are currently taking. While this book had a few small errors, my copy came with a print out of what the errors were and what you needed to change them to. Wonderful book! Stellar!

This book isn't extremely detailed (If you need more details you will need to refresh yourself further from another study guide or your text book) But it has all the basics of the MUST and NEED to knows! It has all sorts of witty little ways to remember things and it really works. Easy to read and a good refresher.

I used this book and passed both MLT and MLS ASCP exams. I recommend it and all of my students have passed as well. Highly recommended!

I was referred by a friend of mine who bought this book and passed the exam. As soon as I was told, I ordered it and received it with in four days. I was so surprised when I start reading it, some of my exam questions from MLT I took recently are in this book with more details. For example I had a question (Micro) says, "What is the difference b/n Taenia Saginata and T. Solium?" I see it now on this book with more details. I would recommend to all MLT students or employees who are planning to take ASCP. It is a great review for me and hoping I will pass this time. Good luck to you all :)

This book IS as it's called... "bottom line approach".. I am preparing for my MLT BOC exam and I did use this book to study for my finals when I was still in school. It sums up everything you need to know in a very easy and fun way to remember... Highly recommended !!
