Although they may be originally designed by talented sculptors and craftsmen in Germany, bulk orders of Schleigh products are manufactured and painted where it is most cost effective. That would probably not be Germany. They list Germany, Romania, Moldova, Portugal, Tunisia, and China but any part of the process could be in any country.

I have never cut one open to see if they are hollow inside. They are intricately designed to replicate a live animal. Figureines by this country are very well-constructed ans painted authentically. They are non-toxic. I have purchased a great many for my grandchildren. I reccommend them enthusiastically!

Idk!! But one thing I do know. I bought it for my son & it's tiny like really tiny!!! We were expecting something bigger!!! Very unhappy with the sz. For the amount we paid!
