How long do you have to leave it in for

I personally left it in my hair for the amount of time it took to wash my body from the neck down and then to rince my body down. I would say give it at least 5 to 10 minutes in your hair it will feel very Cooling at the same time

Can you use a conditioner after washing with this shampoo? I'm not sure whether using conditioner will interfere with the menthol.

Yes. Though consider washing lightly with a "regular" shampoo, just the hair not the scalp, between the Selsun and the conditioner.

Is this tested on animals? most products must pass fda to gain licensing. please give definitive answer.

It does not say it was NOT tested on animals, therefor the only place that can give you the answer is the company itself Chattem Inc. Chatanooga TN 37409
