Can you please clarify the dimensions? the increased pipe is 9 inches, while the reduced pipe is 4 inches? what is the depth of the entire unit?

existing duct diameter is 7.5 new under cabinet duct diamter is 4.5 will it fit?

If your handy and have tin snips and duct tape yes. Not very strong rivets however so be delicate.

can i use this to reduce from a 8 inch exhaust fan to a 4 inch hose ?

My diameter on exhaust hood is 6 1/2 inches from side to side running through the middle. This adapter fits perfectly over this. What I didn't figure is the 1 1/2 inch lip or height to taper into 4 inch pipe. So I think the hole will need to be enlarged in my cabinet to accommodate this or the hood won't be flushed as before. Remeasure it it is truly 8 inches it may fit on the inside of your ring. Aluminum tape and sheet metal screws may help also.

Not good for a 8" inlet fan to 4" vinyl tubing for lab fume hood

If you have a 8" in-let fan then don't bother because the air will flow back. In my case I'm building a fume hood - so I can't have fumes going back into the hood. If it doesn't bother you about the flow back then go ahead and purchase it. It's good and it's made of well. So I may use it for something else but I'm not sure quite yet.
